Round 2 Models recently did a YouTube product reveal for a couple of new kits coming in 2021, and one of those was a completely new 1:1000 scale USS Voyager! Check out the prototype:

Round 2 Model kit round-up: New Shuttlecraft Galileo kit, bigger Disco-Enterprise, and more

Star Trek model kit makers Round 2 Models have been keeping up a steady stream of both new kits and reissues of late, with their most recent release being the long anticipated brand new Shuttlecraft Galileo kit. Continue below to check out that, plus other new TOS and Discovery kits.

The Shuttlecraft Galileo kit is 1:32 scale, and comes with a set of decals that can also name the shuttle Columbus and Einstein, and indeed the Galileo II (and I suppose if so inclined the Columbus II or Einstein II too!)

1:1000 scale Discovery USS Enterprise incoming, and other model kit updates

Twenty-third century fans of all flavours should be happy with the latest model kit releases from Round 2 Models. Continue below for details of Wrath of Khan and TOS TV-era kits on the way. But first Discovery:

Having released the three hero ships of Discovery (Discovery, Shenzhou, and Enterprise) at 1:2500 scale pretty swiftly last year, Round 2's Polar Lights are now back with a bigger 1:1000 scale USS Enterprise kit. That makes for a pretty impressive 44cm+ long ship once built. Here's the box art (which seems to be a new style):

Round 2 Models reveal new TOS shuttle and Disco-Enterprise model kits

Round 2 Models have recently revealed plans for two new Star Trek models this year, the long awaited TOS shuttlecraft, and a new bigger version of the Discovery-Enterprise. Continue below to check them out, plus updates on other Disco and Wrath of Khan kits on the way.

Round 2 have been considering doing a TOS shuttlecraft kit as far back as 2012, and shelved it for a while after the costs of doing a kit with a full interior became prohibitive. But now they've returned to the idea, and expect to release it the 1:32 scale kit (making it about eleven inches long) later this year! In a preview video on YouTube of lots of forthcoming releases, we got out first look:

Model kits round-up: Updates on K't'inga class, Oberth class, and USS Kelvin kits

I've got a round up of the latest Star Trek model kits news today, with updates on several exciting up-coming releases, including the first Oberth class and USS Kelvin kits. But first, lets take a close look at what is surely the most significant model kit release of the year, Round 2 Models' Polar Lights 1:350 scale Klingon K't'inga class battle cruiser.

Round 2 are hoping to have this big kit out before the end of the year, and have just recently released the box-art for both the kit itself and the separate lighting kit. Both are in the latest style Star Trek packaging, which has been nicely specified to the ship with a Motion Picture Klingon in the character segment, and V'Ger making a pretty background to the model shots, which are of course emulating the shots of the ship from the movie.

Model kits updates: New announcements and releases from Round 2 Models and Moebius Models

Lots of Star Trek model kit news today, from both Round 2 Models' various prime timeline releases, and Moebius Models' Kelvin timeline kits.

First up the big news comes via Round 2's booth at WonderFest, where they have revealed plans for a potentially large range of Discovery kits. The USS Discovery at 1:2500 scale is expected to be the first release, coming some time in 2019, but many more options are being considered...

Round 2 Models reveal 1:350 K't'inga class model kit, plus other Star Trek model kit updates

Round 2 Models have been teasing some big Star Trek model kit news was coming, and have now revealed all, in the form of a glorious Polar Lights 1:350 scale kit of the iconic Klingon K't'inga class battlecruiser.

An ideal companion to their previous 1:350 kits of the USS Enterprise and refit USS Enterprise, this kit stand apart even from those impressive pieces thanks to it's insanely intricate detailing, with surface texture and tiny bits of somethings all over the ship. Continue below for a closer look and more details of this and other forthcoming releases.

Note these images are of a prototype, and any gaps or random bits of different colour plastic will be sorted out before the final kit goes into production.

Round 2 Models: New Oberth class, Klingon BoP, and Defiant, plus recent reissues

Round 2 Models are keeping themselves busy in the Star Trek universe lately, with several new model kits on the way, and a run recent reissues. Continue below to catch up with all their latest kits.

Tantalisingly, in a recent blog post they mentioned they are "working on another brand-new kit. It will be big, and probably unexpected" which they expect to release in August. But they're not ready to tell us what it is just yet. They have however announced something smaller already.

On the way is what I believe is the first ever kit of the Oberth class USS Grissom. They are releasing it at 1:1000 scale, in a two-pack of snap-kits with a Klingon Bird of Prey, which is also a new kit.

They have posted photos of mock-ups of both models on their blog, here are a few of those images, but there are many more on the original post, where you can also read about tweaks they will be making to these before the final release.

New starships Enterprise model kit set

Round 2 Models have posted a new blog giving details of their forthcoming USS Enterprise model kit set. For the first time the set includes models of every Enterprise from the NX-01 through to the NCC-1701-E at the same scale, 1:2500. Most of these are reissues of previous Cadet Series kits, but the NX-01 is brand new for this release. Continue below for more details.

New TOS starship model kits

Coming next year is a new TOS Romulan Bird of Prey model kit from Round 2 Models. I have previously previewed the new 1:1000 Polar Lights model itself, and now Things From Another World have added a listing, revealing the new box art. They are expecting this ship to reach us in March. Here's the description:
Few Star Trek ships are as popular or mysterious as the Romulan Bird-of-Prey. The villainous ship played a key role in the original series episode 'Balance of Terror.' The ship's iconic design and blazing bird graphic have been painstakingly researched to deliver the utmost in authenticity for this snap-together model kit. The kit features all decals needed to decorate the ship accurately.
Also newly listed by Things From Another World is another new release, the Build2gether USS Enterprise model kit set, which includes two different models of the original Enterprise, intended for parents or otherwise to indoctrinate, *ahem* inspire, their underlings in the art of starship building.
This AMT Build2gether set features 2 kits of the USS Enterprise that offers a great opportunity for seasoned sci-fi fans to share their interest with the next generation. It features an 18" long glue-together kit which is perfect for moderately-skilled modelers and features water slide decals to decorate the ship. An 11 1/2" long version of the ship is also included and features snap-together assembly for novice modelers. It also features a sticker sheet to supply all of the ship's markings.
I suspect this actually amounts to a reissue of both the existing Polar Lights 1:1000 kit and the AMT 1:650 kit. The new two-pack version is also expected in March.

Romulan Bird of Prey model kit

There's a new ship model kit on the way from Round 2 Models, the latest in their collection of 1:1000 scale models, the TOS Romulan Bird of Prey. The Round 2 blog has recently posted previews of the work in progress model, which is apparently pretty much done, and looking lovely. Just needs a nice big bird decal to finish it off (more images after the jump):

Ship bits: QMx Reliant, and lots of other ships news

Lots of model ships news for you, including updates from The Official Starships Collection, Hallmark, Attack Wing, and Round 2 Models.

But first, at the San Diego Comic Con QMx revealed the next ship in their high-end artisan replica range, the USS Reliant. The highly detailed model beautifully replicates the Reliant, and even expands on it, with fitted out shuttlebays.

No details on when this will come, but you can expect to pay thousands if you want to nab one when the opportunity arises. Images here via TrekMovie and Tomopop, which both have more images of this model, and other previously announced QMx products which were on display at Comic Con.

And one more image, straight from QMx, giving a look behind the scenes, and a nice sense of scale:

Ship bits: Latest model kits, Starships Collection previews, and DST Excelsior

Lots of different model starships to look at today. First up Round 2 Model's latest model kits, as revealed recently at Wonderfest 2014. A few new ships were announced, including a DS9 themed addition to their Cadet Series, which already features a dozen different ships, all at 1:2500 scale. This new three-pack will include the USS Defiant, USS Saratoga, and a Galor class:

Also newly announced is their latest model at 1:1000 scale, the TOS Romulan Bird of Prey. They are hoping to have this ready in about a year.

And on display there were also plans for the new Shuttlecraft Galileo kit:

Round 2 are also planning to re-issue the AMT USS Enterprise cutaway model kit, and are currently looking at what (if any) modifications they might make before doing so. They hope to have this ready for 2015. You can see more from Round 2's Wonderfest display, on their blog.

If you prefer not to build your ships, then The Official Starships Collection is the series you need. Their website has recently been updated with new images of the Nebula class and Xindi Insectoid starship, which are coming soon as issues twenty-three and twenty-four.

Finally, DST have released an updated version of their USS Excelsior NX-2000 image, with the colours looking a bit more as we might hope they will appear on the model (the previous version was very saturated). This version of the Excelsior is expected in November:

Ship bits: Excelsior, Reliant, NX-01, and Daedalus

Here's a variety of ship focused news, starting with a look, or perhaps more of a listen, at DST's forthcoming USS Excelsior NX-2000. Aside from a few tweaks to the outside, this edition also comes with a completely different set of sounds to the NCC-2000 version, swapping out Captain Sulu for Captain Styles, along with a bunch of other Search For Spock sounds, right down to the splutter of a failing transwarp drive. DST released this video to demonstrate the sounds:

If you're more inclined to build your own starships, then Round 2 Models should be able to help you out, with their range of model kits. The newest addition to that range will be the USS Reliant, which is expected next month. StarTrek.com recently previewed the Reliant kit, including a description of the kit contents, and note of an extra pack of decals that will be available:
The U.S.S. Reliant is comprised of 40 plastic parts that snap firmly together. The parts are molded in off-white, like the filming miniature used during production on Star Trek II. Registry and markings can be applied using water-slide decals (included), while a few touches of paint will complete the look of the ship as seen in the iconic film.

Also, the U.S.S. Reliant Model Kit includes a pose-able base and easy-to-follow pictorial assembly instructions. The finished model will measure 9.5” long. Fans should also be on the lookout for an accessory pack of water-slide “Aztec” decals that will be sold separately. These allow discriminating modelers to add the complex surface detail that can be tough to accomplish by painting.

For a more luxurious model, QMx are the people to go for, if you want hyper-detailed high quality starships. QMx recently sent Doug Drexler some behind the scenes photos from a run of their Enterprise NX-01 replica, which Doug in tern shared on Facebook. Here are a few, you can see more in Doug's gallery.

Continue after the jump for more of the NX-01, and a look at the Daedalus class due to be featured in Ships of the Line next year.

Polar Lights' new USS Reliant model kit

Round 2 Models' blog, Collector Model, has posted some preview images of the prototype for their forthcoming Polar Lights USS Reliant model kit. The 1:1000 scale Miranda class kit is a wholly new model currently being developed by Round 2, and at the moment is still having the kinks ironed out; quite literally, the saucer of the prototype is a bit wavy at the moment.

Mega Hobby have also posted box art for this new release, which they expect to come in June:

Once it's released the Reliant will join a growing collection of Polar Lights and AMT kits at the same scale: The NX-01 (recently reissued with extra parts for the refit design), 1701 (which was also recently re-released, coupled with an SS Botany Bay kit), 1701-A, 1701-B, Klingon D7, and Romulan D7.

All sorts of new starships nearing launch

With the fortnightly Starships Collection now under-way, I've been talking a lot about the model and magazine series from Eaglemoss lately. But they certainly aren't the only starship builders in town; other shipyards, producing ships both larger and smaller, have also been busy lately.

Just released by Round 2 Models, is their latest version of the 1:1000 scale NX-01 model kit, which comes with new parts to build the refit design. Here's the box art, which features a new rendering of the NX-refit from Doug Drexler:

Round 2 have also recently added a listing for a re-release of their AMT 1:1400 scale Enterprise-E kit. They expect that to be available from November.

If you prefer your starships pre-built, then look no further than the latest addition to DST's ship range. They have announced a new battle damaged variant of the Enterprise-B, featuring Nexus inflicted wounds as seen in Generations. You can look forward to reenacting the "death" of Kirk next year:

You could also simulate a bit of space turbulence for the Enterprise with Bif Bang Pow's new USS Enterprise bobble-ship. That's coming in November according to Entertainment Earth:

Finally if you like your starships at a smaller scale, then you must surely be looking forward to this month's release of the third wave of ships in the Tactics Heroclix game. Wizkids have been previewing these for the past few weeks, continue after the jump to check out many of the ships on the way:

Latest Star Trek models from Round 2, and the Starships Collection

Round 2 Models were showing off many of their new Star Trek model kits at Wonderfest recently, and fortunately CultTVman was on hand to record what they previewed.

UPDATE: The writer of CultTVMan has expressed irritation at my sharing his images without seeking his permission before hand, so I have removed them at his request. If you would like to see the latest Round 2 Models please see his articles with photos of the ships which were on display, and a separate article with the bridge model kit.

My summary of the model kits on display, as reported by CultTVMan:
You can see photos of the Round 2 display on CultTVMan - See separate articles for the ships, and the bridge.

Meanwhile, if you don't like building your models, Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection has been posting images of more of their ships on their Facebook page. Here are their USS Excelsior, and (out of focus) Borg Sphere:

UPDATE: A bit more news from the Starships Collection, they have announced they will be launching in Canada as well as the US, UK, and Ireland. They are looking to launch in other parts of Europe and Australia some time next year.

New NX-01 views

A few weeks ago Round 2 Models revealed they will be re-issuing their 1:350 and 1:1000 scale NX-01 model kits, the latter with additional parts to build the NX-01 refit, as seen in Ships of the Line 2011. They also announced Doug Drexler would be generating the artwork for the boxes, and now Drexler has been showing off his creation for the 1:350 kit on Facebook:

Drexler noted when posting the image that he hopes this view will be a useful guide to builders:
I don't know about you, but I think the box art for a model should be great reference for your build. I love paintings for kit boxes, but in this case a render of the real thing is better.
This is what it will look like on the box - This is the print layout, so the additional images around the sides will be on the sides of the box when it's constructed:

Drexler hasn't revealed his artwork for the refit box yet, but he did post this additional rendering showing the refit NX-01 alongside the Columbia NX-02:
