Gentle Giant reveal their amazing Discovery statues

Gentle Giant are set to release a pair of most impressive 1/8th scale Discovery statues, taken from the very start of the series and featuring two of the most impressive costume designs from the entire season: Michael Burnham, in her long-haul space-suit, and the Klingon Torchbearer. Both are of course based on original production assets, with the Torchbearer in particular coming from work Gentle Giant themselves did making the real costume.

These are expected to ship in the second quarter of 2019, and are both now available for pre-order -Which means Gentle Giant have released a whole load of images, showing off the truly incredible level of detail these offer. Continue below to check them out:

Gentle Giant show off amazing Discovery statues, and other goodies at SDCC

At the San Diego Comic Con Gentle Giant have been showing off some of their latest creations, including a rather impressive pair of statues of EV suited Michael Burnham and the Klingon Torchbearer, both drowning in the details that these showpiece costumes featured.

According to TrekMovie these are 1:4 scale, and are planning for release in 2019 (as is everything mentioned here apparently). Gentle Giant Saru bust revealed

After a first glimpse a couple of weeks back, Gentle Giant have now revealed the full details of their forthcoming Saru bust. The 1/6th scale bust is hand-cast and hand-painted, and is to be a San Diego Comic Con exclusive, but will be briefly available for pre-order to much of the rest of the world via Gentle Giant's website.

It will also be a limited edition, although of how many has not been mentioned.

Two new Star Trek bust series on the way?

I hope you like busts, because it looks like we've got plenty on the way! Eaglemoss' latest round of solicitations include a new Captain Kirk bust, the first in The Official Star Trek Busts Collection apparently!

Eaglemoss surveyed about possibly doing a bust series last year, so it's not too surprising this is on the way. Here's how they describe the series in their blurb:

The iconic Captains of Star Fleet and other memorable characters from over 50 years of STAR TREK TV and movie history are captured in impressive detail with highly accurate likenesses, uniforms and props.

These hand-painted polyresin busts are 4.5 to 6" tall, come complete with a fact-filled magazine, and form an essential addition to any STAR TREK collection.

Gentle Giant reveal new Fleet Flyers range of mini Discovery starships

Gentle Giant, producers of typically higher-end collectables, have launched a new mass market division, Gentle Giant Toys. They have announced plans for several new lines as part of this, including a series of tiny Star Trek: Discovery starship models, called Fleet Flyers. Here's how they describe them:

Boldly GO!… AND take your favorite ships from Starfleet with you!  From the runaway hit TV series Star Trek: Discovery comes Gentle Giant’s Fleet Flyers!   Relive your favorite space battles or explore the outer reaches of the quadrant with these replica spacecraft that have appeared in the new season of Star Trek: Discovery.  Each vessel is sculpted using actual digital models from the show, capturing every detail of each unique ship from both the Federation, the Klingon Empire and the yet unknown!  Each ship comes packed with an articulated arm stand and suction cup so they can be attached to any smooth, flat surface for display!

In their press release image Gentle Giant highlighted three ships, the obvious USS Discovery and USS Shenzhou, plus the USS Europa. But they also had a display at the recent New York Toy Fair, and had five ships to show there. Those included the first ever model of the Vulcan shuttle, plus the  Malachowski class USS Clarke - Gentle Giant could well beat Eaglemoss to market with those two, with no mention yet of the Vulcan shuttle due in the Discovery starships collection, and the Clarke noted as likely future release but not in the initial line-up.

Discovery's Klingon Torchbearer on display at Comic Con

On display at the San Diego Comic Con right now is a pretty impressive costume replica. A special miniature version of Star Trek: Discovery's Klingon Torchbearer has been made by Gentle Giant, and it reveals the crazy level of detail going into this production.

The suit was designed by Neville Page and Glenn Hetrick and 3D printed by Gentle Giant. Continue below for a close look at all the details (images via TrekMovie and ToyArk):
