Cross Cult have released their latest New Frontier character image, it's Shelby:

On the comics front, my usual German informant, Jens Deffner of Unreality SF, has pointed me towards a Cross Cult forum post announcing their future plans for comics. After impressive sales of Countdown they have found further comic sales disappointing and will no longer be releasing series omnibuses. As an alternative they are considering doing much larger omnibuses instead, with four miniseries in a single limited edition hardcover book. They're seeing customer feedback on the idea on the forum post. The first book provisional could include Klingons: Blood Will Tell (TOS), Leonard McCoy: Frontier Doctor (TOS), Fool's Gold (DS9), and Turnaround (NF).

ComicNewsi have posted IDW's solicitations for July, which include three new Star Trek comics and an omnibus:

Comics Continuum have posted IDW's solicitations for March, which include three Star Trek comics and one omnibus. The solicitions also reveal Fool's Gold will only have four parts.

Ghosts #4
With Captain Picard shifted into another dimension, Commander Riker takes command of the Enterprise and negotiates with Worf's hot-tempered captors for his release. Nero omnibus
From Star Trek writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, comes an all-new story set within the events of the hit film! Not an adaptation, this exclusive story follows the villainous Nero as he seeks to destroy the Federation.

Meanwhile on his forums John Byrne has given some new details of his forthcoming series Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor. It apparently sees McCoy dealing with a new disease in each issue, and is based on an idea Byrne once had for a TV series set in the American Civil War.

Tiptons on DS9

Comic Book Resources have posted an interview with the Tipton brothers on their forthcoming DS9 comic book series Fool's Gold. "[Their] story is set between Seasons 3 and 4, before Worf's arrival to the station and before things start to heat up with the Dominion War. It's kind of the last point where there's breathing space before the series got really serialized in its final four seasons."

The series will feature all the regular characters, with particular emphasis on Odo and Kira as the faces of law and order on the station, and Quark's bar being a prominent location. The brothers describe the series thusly: "the station is overrun by mysterious soldiers of fortune from across the galaxy, it creates a powder keg on DS9 with a very short fuse." "It's the larger mystery that needs to be solved: why are they all on the station? What brought them here, and might there be a hidden, larger purpose?"

Ahead of a more formal announcement Chris Ryall has released some previews for IDW's forthcoming first DS9 comics. At last, as our friend Nero likes to say "the wait is over", or nearly over at least: Comics Continuum have posted IDW's solicitations for December which include three Star Trek titles, comprised of the second issue of TNG's Ghosts, the Cardassian focused post-Dominion war final Alien Spotlight and the first issue of a new DS9 series, by the Tiptons no less!

Alien Spotlight: Cardassians
