Latest Star Trek coins and stamps from the Perth Mint and Australia Post
The Perth Mint have been busy designing coins to celebrate Star Trek's 50th anniversary this year, with some create designs and packaging, and tie-ins to releases from Australia Post. Continue below to check out all the latest Star Trek coins:
The most recently minted join pulls together the entire TOS main cast on a colour printed two ounce silver coin. As ever with Star Trek coins from Perth Mint, this is technically legal tender in Tuvala, however the metals used are rather more valuable than the face value of two dollars! Being from Tuvala, the other side of the coin features the bust of Queen Elizabeth II. This is released in an edition of five-thousand.

Bye Bye Robot celebrates Star Trek's 50th Anniversary
Bye Bye Robot have joined the Star Trek 50th Anniversary celebrations with a new collection of four TOS artworks. Continue below to check them out.
My personal favourite of the bunch is something new for Bye Bye Robot, an interior painting. New artist David Owens has created The Bridge, a 12x24 inch print which, as Bye Bye Robot note in their description, being presented as the room only "allows the viewers’ imaginations to create the story of this piece".

Keepsake USS Franklin coming, and other Hallmark Star Trek updates
Every year since 1991 Hallmark have released at least one Star Trek ornament in their Keepsake range of Christmas decorations, including a model ship every year. At this week's Star Trek Las Vegas convention they announced which ship is coming next, and I'm sure it will be no surprise that 2017 will be bring us the ship of the moment, the USS Franklin. StarTrek.com released this image. While not noted in StarTrek.com report, I expect this model will have light and/or sound features.
Meanwhile this year's range of Keepsakes have just recently gone on sale, and include several Star Trek designs. Continue below for a look at them all.

The latest addition to that offering, revealed with the display of a prototype at the San Diego Comic Con, is a replica of the USS Franklin. Latest previews from 50 Artists 50 Years art exhibition
As part of the 50th anniversary, CBS have created a Star Trek art exhibition, 50 Artists, 50 Years, which features a wide variety of artists and mediums all celebrating every facet of Star Trek. The exhibition will open first at the San Diego Comic Con, before going on to tour the world. The front cover features Rocco Malatesta's Spock illustration 50 - Live Long and Prosper.
The back cover meanwhile features Tom Whalen's U.S.S. Enterprise Spec Sheet, plus preview pages from inside, highlighting numerous pieces, including illustrations by Star Trek comic book artist Joe Corroney, what looks like Spock made from threads by Hyunju Kim, and pieces from Mattel Hot Wheels toy designers.

50 Artists 50 Years art revealed
StarTrek.com have launched a micro-site to highlight the artwork to be featured in the forthcoming 50 Artists 50 Years art exhibition. Commissioned to mark Star Trek's 50th anniversary, the touring exhibition will feature a wide variety of artwork, including illustrations, photographs, sculptures, paintings, and graphics.
Not all of the artwork has been revealed yet, but StarTrek.com have started to release it a few entries at a time, with creator interviews discussing each work. Those creators are equally as diverse as the mediums, including many familiar names from the world of Star Trek comics, Juan Ortiz (who previously brought us the retro print series), entries associated with the US Postal Service (the new TOS stamp artwork), and Mattel (I presume these will be Mega Bloks sculptures, but they've not been revealed yet), and perhaps most notably of all, the final piece of photographic art from the late Leonard Nimoy.
Continue below for a look at the artwork revealed so far, and details of where you can see the exhibition:

Trek Talks details announced
A little while ago CBS announced many of their 50th anniversary events, including what sounds like one of the highlights of the year to me, the Trek Talks program. Now StarTrek.com have announced more details.
With a nod to TED Talks, Trek Talks will delivery a wide range of lectures, presented by academics, experts, or influentials, discussing a myriad of subjects Star Trek has commented on and inspired, to bring together the fictional universe with real world science, culture, technology and social commentary. The talks will run for a year, starting from this July.
Much as I love pretty starships and the like, what makes Star Trek matter is its philosophies and inspiration commentary on just about every aspect of our society. So I'm really glad CBS want to dig deep into the wealth of ideas as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations.
The talks will be supported by CBS in terms of providing imagery and footage, but for the most part will be arranged by which ever organisations wish to host them, with CBS angling for educational, entertainment, science, and other venues to take part. CBS have pre-approved a wide range of themes, but are also open to venues coming up with their own take on a Trek Talk. Those suggested are:

Lots of Star Trek events for the 50th anniversary
It might not come as too much of a surprise to learn that CBS have big plans for this year, what with it being the 50th anniversary of Star Trek n'all. Details of several of the latest events planned for this year have been revealed in the last few days; there should be lots to keep us entertained and help us celebrate this golden year.
Art
The highlight of the planned events in my mind, is the 50 Artists. 50 Years. project which USA Today have now revealed will be a worldwide travelling exhibition of Star Trek inspired art, in many forms, including illustration, photography, and graphic design.
This exhibit will first open at the San Diego Comic Con in July, before moving on to other venues. We've already had our first glimpse at this thanks to early previews for a calendar using some of the artwork - I find it hard to imagine we won't see what will surely be a rich source of Star Trek imagery turn up in other places and products down the line too. USA Today have confirmed the exhibit will include work by Leonard Nimoy, and the credits for the calendar suggest other contributors will include Tom Whalen, Nick Walker, Johnson Tsang, Derek Charm, and Susan Beatrice.
