Mego's latest one-week Topps exclusives are TNG Worf and the Borg Queen

Mego's releases of action figures via Topps has returned to Star Trek once more this week, with two TNG characters available to order; Worf and the Borg Queen. Continue below to check them out, plus some other Mego-Trek updates.

For a few weeks now Mego have been offering up exclusive action figures via Topps, each week two new characters are available to pre-order for one week only, and so long as enough orders come in, they subsequently go into production and should arrive a few months later. With this week's TNG selection, fully half of the figures so far offered have been Star Trek releases! With TOS and DS9 characters offered previously, so far Star Trek characters have been coming every other week!

For the TNG assortment we have TV-era Worf, who has been quite splendidly rendered in the Mego style:

Mego's first DS9 action figures, available for one week only!

Mego recently began a new partnership with Topps where they offer new action figures every week for a limited one-week pre-order window. They already offered a couple of TOS characters as part of this, two weeks ago, and now on just their fourth week doing this, they're offering two more Star Trek characters already, notably marking Mego's first ever releases based on Deep Space Nine.

Available to order now are Captain Sisko and Quark. So long as enough orders come in, they will go into production shortly after the pre-order window closes at the end of the week, with delivery expected a few months later. Note the images below are of prototypes, so may not reflect the final product exactly.

Sisko comes in his earlier season uniform, and equipped with a Starfleet phaser:

One-week Mego Star Trek action figure exclusives from Topps. plus the latest Mego TOS, TNG, and 14 inch releases

Retro action figure makers Mego recently announced a new partnership with Topps to release exclusive action figures on a weekly basis, and on just the second week of this initiative, there are two new Mego Star Trek figures on offer, for one week only. Continue below to check them out, plus their latest TOS and TNG character regular releases, and their new larger sized 14 inch figures.

The Topps arrangement is in effect a crowdfunding pre-order offer, where new characters are offered for a one-week pre-order period, and so long as a minimum order threshold is met, they go into production, and arrive about 90-100 business days later - So these first two characters should turn up in January.

On offer now we have a The Motion Picture version of Spock:

This is the first Motion Picture release in the new era of Mego (which relaunched a couple of years ago), but of course Mego has done a lot of TMP toys(ad) in the past, being the main toy company for the film at release. That included Spock in a twelve inch action figure assortment(ad), and curiously this new figure appears to be modelled after that figure as much as the film, with the prominent grey V neck shared between the two toys, but I don't think Spock on-screen!

Mego's latest TOS and Discovery action figures

Mego are making a busy start to the year for Star Trek toy collectors, with lots of new action figures newly released or coming soon based on Discovery and TOS. Continue below to check out their Scotty, Doctor McCoy, Salt Vampire, Michael Burnham, and...

Here's the Disco version of Captain Pike(ad), supplied with classic TOS Mego-styled equipment (cute), but an appropriately Disco styled uniform, complete with printed deltas on the boots.

Mego's lost Star Trek toys

Mego were among the first makers of Star Trek toys, and the first to make any Star Trek action figures. They produced quite an assortment of figures and playsets, along with various human-scale role-play items. But like any toy company they also worked on several ideas that never quite made it. Some photos of prototypes have appeared on Ebay(ad) giving us a rare chance to check out some of those lost releases. Continue below to check them out.

So first up is this really impressive USS Enterprise bridge AND sickbay playset! This is scaled for use with Mego's 8-inch action figures, so would be a pretty substantial piece. The mini sickbay, encased in bridge-style railings is accessible via a turbo lift that runs up the support that holds up above the bridge.

Mego Q and Locutus coming soon, and Saru in the wild

Mego's Star Trek action figure range is expanding with new characters from TNG and Discovery, including Saru who arrived last year, and Q and Locutus who are starting to turn up now. Continue below to check out all the latest preview images from Mego.

All of the new figures are quite ambitious designs for Mego figures, but I think Q's(ad) striking red and black judge's robes are definitely the most eye catching:

Continue below to check out those, but first...

The next wave of releases from Mego is shifting their retro action figure range into the 24th century with their first TNG characters, Captain Picard, and Data. Mego Museum and Mego's social media have released some new preview images, showing pre-production samples (so they might yet get tweaked). These are currently expected to arrive from June.

After several waves of TOS characters, Mego are now branching out to The Next Generation, with their eighth wave of revival action figure releases including two TNG characters; Captain Picard, and Data. According to Entertainment Earth, who have them up for pre-order, these could be here as soon as next month. At the recent New York Toy Fair Mego gave us their first look at these new figures, and thanks to Mego Museum, we can see them too:

Mego reveal new Khan action figure, and Spock gift set

Mego have revealed their new Khan action figure, which will be seeking his wrath with the seventh wave of releases from the reborn Mego brand this September. Continue below to check him out, as well as a new Spock gift set, and new images of the latest releases

Khan will be one of three new Star Trek figures in mego's next wave, appropriately joined by Admiral Kirk and Captain Spock - They will be released Separately, but you can order them as a bundle from Entertainment Earth. These will be the first Mego figures outside the TOS TV era in the current run (although DST released a couple of TNG figures when they did Mego figures a few years ago).

Mego Museum released these first look photos of the Khan figure, along with previews of other non-Trek wave seven characters. Kirk and Spock are yet to be seen, although I doubt we'll have long to wait with San Diego Comic Con coming up.

Mego's new variant wave includes glow-in-the-dark Gorn!

Mego's next wave of retro action figures include three Star Trek characters. Alas they are all variants of previously released figures, but they're at least having some fun, particularly with the new version of the Gorn figure which now features glow in the dark teeth, eyes, and spines! Check it out:

The other variants in this range are, Kirk and Spock, each coming with a gaggle of tribbles as new accessories. Images come via distributor License 2 Play, and the set of three characters is available to pre-order from Entertainment Earth, who are currently anticipating a July release.

Continue below to check out more images, and something even more fun:

Mego reveal first 14 inch Star Trek figures, plus other updates

The Mego action figure revival continues to show a big commitment to Star Trek with a new forteen inch assortment of figures now set to join the already quite numerous eight inch range. On show for the first time at the New York Toy Fair, the first releases at this large scale are revealed to be Kirk, Spock, "Security Guard", and most excitingly a Gorn! I assume from the sculpt that the red shirt is actually meant to be Scotty, and Mego Museum reporting on that basis too.

While on show they are all marked up as "not final", which is clear from the packaging which has them marked up as being eight inchers! The images here come from Mego Museum and Toy Ark, who both have additional images if you'd like a closer look.

Star Trek toys prototypes and production assets at auction

There's some pretty cool Star Trek stuff on offer in Prop Store's latest auction, of toys and memorabilia. Among the reams of Star Wars stuff you'll find a healthy selection of Star Trek toys, spanning a good chunk of Star Trek toy history, including some pretty unique items, such as unreleased action figures, prototypes, and production art. Continue below to check out what's on offer:

My favourites among the listings are a series of molds for The Final Frontier figurines produced by Galoob. These were made by roto-molding, which Prop Store have an excellent description of in their auction catalogue:
Rotational molding or “roto-molding” uses liquid vinyl material to create items such as baby doll heads or squeeze toys. The molds are composed of one piece with an opening. A set amount of vinyl is poured into the opening, which is then capped and rotated in many directions while heated until the material forms an even, detailed coat on the inside of the mold. While still warm, the part is pulled from the mold and allowed to cool. Roto-molding is a very economical manufacturing method because the mold is cheap to produce and simple to use.

The molds themselves are made by submerging a wax pattern in a bath and electroplating onto it until the desired mold thickness is reached. The wax is then melted out of the mold, leaving the “clean” form inside. The inside of the mold is where the detailing lies; therefore, the exterior may only provide a marginal representation of the final toy.
All five character's in Galoob's Final Frontier range are available, Klaa, Sybok, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, although most of the molds are missing parts, with just Klag and McCoy complete (I wonder if you could make your own figures from them?)

Action figure updates: Mego wave 4, and TNG goes bendable

Updates from two Star Trek action figures today, starting with our first look at the fourth wave of Star Trek figures in the Marty Abrams Present Mego retro action figure revival. Four characters are offered this time, with the first images coming via ToyWiz, which reveal new packaging designs following the current Star Trek products design style - They are expecting to ship in April.

First up we have Uhura, offered for the second time in this series, following the previous mirror universe version. This prime timeline version has of course been offered before in both the original Mego series and DST revival of a decade ago; the major difference this time appears to be a different hairstyle (the same one used for the recent mirror version).

Mego wave 3 images

First up we have the second mirror universe two-pack in the range (following the Kirk and Spock set in wave one), this time bring us Uhura and Sulu, both offered for the first time in mirror-Mego format:

Got a bunch of Star Trek action figure updates today, including the latest from Mego and Titan Merchandise. But first, let's check out something new from Diamond Select Toys:

We got our first look at DST's forthcoming Star Trek Select Borg action figure a few weeks ago, and now it's up for pre-order - Entertainment Earth anticipate an March release. DST have released a new image, which disappointingly doesn't show the arm implants included:

The description makes it sound really fun though, with the assortment of interchangeable parts allow this one release to make many different drones (hopefully DST will release many more photos to show off this feature!):
A Diamond Select Release! Resistance is futile! No Star Trek fan can pass up the opportunity to own the ultimate Borg action figure! This 7-inch, fully poseable action figure is based on the Borg's appearance in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and includes multiple interchangeable parts, including human and Klingon heads, various eyepieces, different tool arms and a removable vest.
