Latest from the Deck Building Game

Since I last mentioned Bandai's Star Trek Deck Building Game, the TOS edition has been released, and this month a TOS themed gaming mat is due to join the collection. It will look like this:

Bandai have also recently announced the game will soon be officially distributed in Europe, and indeed it has now appeared for pre-order on Forbidden Planet. They are expecting all three card sets in February, though don't currently offer any of the mats.

Completist players who haven't been able to attend events where various promo cards have been distributed, or didn't manage to get them through pre-order bonuses, will be pleased to know many of the cards offered so far are now available to purchase through the BoardGameGeek Store:

Latest teases from the Star Trek Deck Building Game

Bandai have announced that pre-orders of their forthcoming TOS edition of their Star Trek Deck Building Game will come with five bonus cards; featuring illustrations of TOS characters, and some tribbles. As far as I can tell the pre-orders aren't up yet for this edition, which is out in a couple of months, but here are those bonus cards:

On the game's Facebook page they have also posted this teaser image, suggesting something tribblesome on the way in November:

Your life, as it has been, is over.

Is the rather ominous message given to us by the Borg on Bandai's second gaming mat for their Star Trek Deck Building Game. It is apparently "amazing", "beautiful", and will "enhance the experience even more" - If that has wooed you, it should be available from January:

Second TNG deck building game coming from Bandai in January

Bandai have announced details of their next Star Trek card game, Star Trek: The Next Generation - Next Phase Edition, which can be played on its own or combined with their first set, the Premier Edition.

Here's how they describe this second set, which is out in January:

Will you form diplomatic relationships or conquer civilizations in battle? Build your deck and explore the Star Trek universe!

Play these different scenarios or create your own!

[Free For All] Exploration – Explore the universe, interact with alien races, complete missions and experience the mysteries of space. Gain knowledge and power to become a legendary Captain!

[Teams] Reunification – Team-up and determine if you are in favor of peace or war in the Alpha Quadrant! What will be the future of the Federation?

[Co-op] Borg Invasion II – “I am the Borg.” This time the Borg Queen has arrived to assimilate planet Earth! Work with your fellow players to defeat the Borg and the Queen.

Bandai have also announced a game mat to play the TNG game on, featuring the Enterprise-D. That's out at the end of the month:

Toys, collectables and apparel update

CBS have recently announced several new licenses and products, these include:

A second set of Star Trek Mr Potato Heads, coming in November from PPW Toys. As announced on StarTrek.com this time we'll get potato versions of Spock and Uhura:

A new Star Trek Monopoly from USAopoly, this time themed on the Klingons; this edition will be bilingual (presumably Federation standard as well as Klingon), with various Klingon worlds to conquer, outposts to establish and honor to chanced (as chance becomes "honor" and community chest will be "combat"). StarTrek.com promises several other elements will be decided by fan choice, starting with a facebook vote on which box design to use:

USAopoly did a great job on their last Star Trek edition, which I reviewed some time ago.

StarTrek.com also announced details of a phaser prop replica coming from QMx. Based directly on the digital files used to create the prop for the new movie this edition features metal plating.

Other new lines announced by CBS include: A range of busts from all eras of Trek coming from Titan Merchandise. Deck building games based on TOS and TNG from Bandai. A variety of Star Trek inspired T-shirts and tops from Mighty Fine. And TNG 25th anniversary Pez Candy sets, due next year.
