The Borg assimilate Hallmark itty bittys

Hallmark have unleashed the Borg Collective on their itty bittys cuddly toys, with their latest waves of releases focusing on characters from First Contact and Voyager. Continue below to check out the cute collective, and some other Hallmark updates:

Just released are the latest pair of itty bittys, based on First Contact. Available separately are "Borg Picard" (aka Locutus) and the Borg Queen:

More Hallmark Christmas decorations this year

Surprise, Hallmark aren't done with Christmas this year it seems. In addition to their Keepsake ornaments released earlier in the year, they have also produced several other Star Trek decorations outside the Keepsake brand. Continue below to check them out.

First up there are two ceramic-style designs, both quite stylised. The first of which is a new ship! Shuttlecraft Galileo, which is a Walmart exclusive. The Hallmark Star Trek Ornaments blog and Garth Duran via the HeroCollector Star Trek Fan Group found all these photos of it:

QUOGs turn to the dark side

We all love QUOGs right? Those cute animated style versions of the TOS crew that occasionally adorn T-shirts, greetings cards and other assorted Trek-tastic merchandise. Sarah Trefny of Klickitat Street certainly seems found of them, but isn't content to let them mull about in the Star Trek universe, so has given them a Star Wars make-over, as designs on cookies. Here choices of characters are great, especially tribble-Chewbacca, with Kirk as Han Solo:

As both series are rather lacking in female characters, Uhura of course becomes a rather snazzy Princess Leia:

Spock is our wise old Jedi master, while our new whiz-kid Chekov becomes the apprentice Luke:

C-3PO and R2-D2 are filled by the ship's specialists, McCoy and Scotty:

Meanwhile Sulu makes best use of his piloting skills for the Rebel Alliance:

And a Klingon is that pesky Darth Vader:

Who let the Ferengi into the Star Trek licensing department?

I sense extra-terrestrial influence of the larger eared variety in some of the latest Star Trek stuff. Checks in the Mail have announced a new range of novelty Star Trek checks, check-book holders, and address labels. They have four different series, based on TOS, Captains, ships, and some lovely bright QUOGs designs:

The address labels and covers aren't offered for the TOS designs, but the other three series all get them:

Meanwhile, a Ferengi embassy would appear to have opened in North Carolina, where you can now play a new Star Trek scratch card lottery, with a card design fro each prime series, letting you win cash and tickets to a Star trek convention.

Star Trek gambling is online too! With the nuTrek game, Against All Odds, which includes three different types of game play, a slot-mahcine style round, an arcade game like battle between the Enterprise and the Narada, and then, quite innovatively, the use of the Enterprise's deflector as a spinning game! Latest Star Trek gadety bits

StarTrek.com have announced a new range of Star Trek mobile device accessories, which are appearing in the UK now. There are cases for your iphone 4 or 5, complete with stylus:

There are also bags for your ipads (or tablet computer of your choosing). If you look closely at the styluses that come with these you might notice they've snuck a QUOGs character on each:

And there's also a new Starfleet delta USB, thing:

On the subject of USB, things, I neglected to report on the Mimobot Star Trek range which launched a little while ago. So if you've not seen them yet, have a look: There are Mimobots characters from all sorts of other franchises, the first Star Trek ones are Kirk, Spock, Picard, and Data, with more due out later this year:

More than a mere USB, thing, they come preloaded with all sorts of Star Trek stuff, as this video explains (alongside a funny little animation):



Perhaps the coolest thing about these is the incredible tale of where they got the Data sound clips, which Mimoco's Scott Seraydarian told StarTrek.com about:

All the content was coming together well… except we were having trouble tracking down decent Data sounds. There was a rumor that there might be a rare, out-of-circulation sound collection that Brent Spiner custom-recorded for a sound software in the mid-90’s. My mantra in general is: “Patience Pays”… and in this case it paid dividends. The CBS team finally found the old set of the 3.5” floppy disks. We had a feeling that they were good and worth the trouble, but had the pressing challenge of finding a mid-90’s Mac with a working floppy disc-drive. A few weeks passed and finally a few old machines were found in a CBS storeroom. But the euphoria was short-lived once we realized we could access the discs but had no way of getting the sounds off the machines. You have to keep in mind these beautiful relics were pre-wifi, even pre-USB ports! As John said “Nothing like working with brand new, state-of-the-art, sealed in package 1993 technology!”

Our deadline was quickly approaching and we were preparing to throw in the towel when the CBS team came through with an external zip drive… the sounds needed to be cleaned up, but they were fabulous better then I was even hoping for!

Also available at last weekend's Star Trek convention were an assortment of new Star Trek T-shirts, which are also available from the organiser's website. There were a couple of Japanese inspired designs:

QUOGs got big

On his blog, on a post with a video trailer for Countdown Chris Ryall has quietly announced an "as-yet-unannounced follow-up project launching in July" which will feature art by David Messina.

TrekMovie.com report that Zachary Quinto (Spocklar) will be voicing the audio book version of the adaptation of the new movie.

And TrekMovie.com also report on a couple of new customisable Star Trek gadgetry products; Hyperdesk have launched a series of desktop themes/skins for Windows XP, featuring TOS based icons and imagery, like this:

And Coveroo now offer a huge range of customisation options for mobile phones and ipods. A lot of TOS, but a fair bit TNG, DS9, and Voyager stuff in there too (I dont think anything that originates from Enterprise), and QUOGs too of course: Finally, the Star Trek Online website has been updated with a supplemental addition to their timeline, in the form of an interview with Annika Hansen, in which has a complain about Starfleet getting complacent about the Borg (cant see what kind of Borgy doom Online is heading too...). It also reveals Seven adopted Icheb!

If you like miscellaneous Star Trek stuff TrekMovie have been reporting on the many Trek branded things coming soon, in brief:

TrekMovie have high res images of the Funko Wacky-wobblers and QUOGS urban vinyl figures, including packaging shots. TrekMovie also report Funko will be releasing smaller scale wobbly headed figures called Nodniks, in two packs, starting with Kirk and a Gorn and Spock and a Klingon.

Elsewhere in the toys and games world TrekMovie have new imagery of Mattel's Scene It? and 20Q Star Trek games.

In general nick-knackery a company called Vandor is releasing all manner of metal Star Trek things, including tin boxes, lunchboxes, signs, magnets, business card holders and a tin box with a set of playing cards inside!
If you feel your life still isn’t sufficiently infused with star Trek you could also decorate your house with massive Star Trek stickers from RoomMates, who will be producing huge wall morals of the Enterprise bridge and sets of smaller sticks for general decoration.
And finally you can even make yourself smell Star Trek with TrekMovie's reveal of the packing of the forthcoming Star Trek perfumes, you could smell of Tiberius, Red Shirt or Ponn Farr!
