IDW adapting new movie, next year...

So perhaps a little late (after the film will be out on blueray/DVD), but according to TrekMovie, IDW are to produce an adaptation of the new movie. It will be a six part series, including some additional content cut from the film itself (I wonder if anything not in the novelization or the upcoming Nero series). The adaptation will be by the usual movie tie-in bunch: written by Tim Jones and Mike Johnson (based on the Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman script of course), with art by David Messina, and will start in January.

Meanwhile TrekMovie also report IDW will be releasing a special (limited to 1000 copies) edition of Countdown, Number One at the San Diego Comic Con, which will include a preview of the Nero series. Each issue will sport this new cover, signed by Jones and Johnson:

I was wondering what happened to the adaptation and even asked Chris Ryall about it on his blog but he didn't bother to answer. Good to know that it's going to happen :)
