Star Trek finger puppets!
What Star Trek thing do you definitely need but never realised it? Finger puppets! Hell yeah! Hours of miniature episode reenactments await thanks to The Unemployed Philosophers Guild, who have created four-inch-tall finger-top versions of all the main TOS characters. And they all have magnets within them, so you can handily store them on your fridge door (perhaps so you can use a nearby lasagna to play the part of the Horta in the aforementioned reenactments??)

Sarek to feature in Star Trek: Discovery, and other updates
At seems at least one pre-existing character will be appearing in the pre-TOS setting of Star Trek: Discovery, as CBS have announced James Frain will be joining the cast as Sarek, the Vulcan ambassador, and father of Spock. We had some indication this might be coming before, as Bryan Fuller previously spoke enthusiastically about Amanda Grayson, Sarek's wife, potentially being part of the series. It remains to be seen if they couple will turn up, or just Sarek.

More Star Trek postage stamps feature captains, aliens, Gold Key and more!
2016 was a huge year for Star Trek postage stamp collectors, with more releases in one year than ever before, chronicling every corner of the Star Trek universe! Adding to the tally, the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation, who design and distribute stamps for many countries, have now added listings for a load more Star Trek stamps which were released towards the end of the year.
Liberia released their third collection of Star Trek stamps, in August, with a 50th anniversary range focused on the series captains. That included one large stamp featuring all five captains, plus a set of five individuals stamps for each captain as well.

Star Trek Discovery's Klingon cast revealed, and other updates
Hot on the heals of the recent casting announcements for several Starfleet characters in the new Star Trek TV series, Discovery, CBS have now revealed a trio of actors set to play Klingons on the series
Perhaps the most interesting thing about this announcement is the implication that Klingon characters will have a leading role in the series, which coupled with the mention of at least two Starfleet ships in the character profiles for the Starfleet characters, might suggest a very varied multi-ship/location setting for the new series.
As with the previous announcement, CBS have released short descriptions for each character, giving us a glimpse of the setting of the series:
