New Starships Collection previews, plus Australian launch

Good news Australian readers, Eaglemoss' Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection is heading to the Southern Hemisphere. They now have a website ready to take on Australian subscribers, which in other markets has indicated the series will be launching within weeks. Australia will be following the European subscription model, which delivers the subscription extras with each of the first five monthly deliveries. The Australian prices will be $19.99 per issue, after the first two issues at introductory prices of $3.99 and $12.99 respectively.

Meanwhile the series is ever expanding in other parts of the world, Entertainment Earth now have listings for issue twenty-three, the Nebula class, and issue twenty-four, the Xindi Insectoid ship, which are out first in the UK in June and July. They have images of both covers, but have only previewed the Nebula class model: also recently previewed the next two issues out in the UK, issue sixteen, the Ferengi Marauder, and issue seventeen, the "USS Dauntless", which are already in the hands of UK subscribers, and will get to the US in May. Continue after the jump for video previews of both models:

UPDATE: The Collection's Facebook page posted a new image of the Ferengi Marauder model as well:

I got these two a few days ago (I'm in the UK). The Marauder is fantastically detailed, at least on the top. The bottom is disappointingly dull, with no painted highlights, no decals, nothing. Easily the worst underside of any ship so far in the collection (although to be fair, the magazine images seem to suggest the ship was always that way).

The Dauntless is aztected top and bottom, and is probably better than the ship actually deserved. Mine was slightly marred by some sloppy glue and gaps between the metal and plastic joins, but still amazing, if only because of the level of detail.

Glad to hear the Dauntless is good. It's design is so "organic" that it's hard to get a feel for the details with images.

Any you already have these in the UK? Yikes. I feel like the gap between US/UK just keeps getting wider and wider. I thought at first we were only 2 issues apart, but now we're closer to 6. ~__~

The Dauntless is exceptional, one of the best in the series, up there with the Reliant and the NX-01.

The Marauder I'm very disappointed with: No print at all on the bottom, horrible tiger-strip like weathering effect, and a weird pale glow effect around the back top side of the ship.

The UK and US are exactly as far apart as they always were. The US is seven weeks behind the UK, so about three issues. Subscribers of course get two ships at a time, so the second of the two in each shipment is a further two weeks ahead.

Any more reviews coming our way?

Always enjoy them.

I agree with that 8of5 said. The colouring on the top is pretty poor., and looks like it's been squirted with BBQ sauce and both ends dipped in flour.

They look nice and subtle in the preview images.

I'm actually fine with the underside. There's not much to paint there anyway and there's still a decent amount of detail in the model itself.

I guess as far as the Marauder is concerned, it's horses for courses; the 'tiger-striping' and weathering is not a problem for me, since this is an alien ship after all. These elements do the same as the aztecing on Federation ships and give it a sense of scale. But the difference between the top and bottom is so jarring, it's almost like different ships.

And yes, if you like the Reliant and NX-01 (and who doesn't?), you'll go for the Dauntless.
