Star Trek stamps coming from the USPS in 2016
The United States Postal Service has announced its stamp designs for 2016, which includes a set of four Star Trek designs to mark the fiftieth anniversary. Designed by Heads of State under the art direction of Antonio Alcalá, the punchy graphic designs have bold colours inspired by the TOS uniforms (all three department colours, plus Kirkian green), and feature representations of some of the icons of the series: All but one features the Enterprise, combined with the Starfleet delta, planets, and the live long and prosper Vulcan hand, plus the fourth design with is a crewperson being transported. New Spock and Sisko coins
The Perth Mint have continued their Star Trek coin collection with the release of their third captain and ship set, Sisko and DS9, plus an extra coin featuring Spock. The Spock coin is the latest release, standing somewhat apart from the rest of the series, in not coming with a companion ship coin. The design of the coin itself also diverges in that sense, while keeping the same overall the style, the other captain coins have had some sort of schematic of their ships aside their portraits, while Spock is pictured with the Vulcan IDIC symbol instead.
In common with the rest of the series, the coin has a face value of one Tuvalu dollar, although being struck from silver is worth somewhat more. The reverse face of the coin features Queen Elizabeth II. The coin comes in the same illuminated display case the rest of the Star Trek coins have been released in. These will be available in an edition of five-thousand.

Car Trek
Those canny people at CBS consumer products have found another corner of our lives ready to fill with Star Trekness. This time Plasticolor are doing the honours, with a new range of Star Trek inspired automotive accessories. No surface inside your car need go un-Treked with all this stuff. Continue below to see what's on offer:
To help get rid the whiff of the last red-shirt you ferried home from an unfortunate landing party mission, they are offering two different dangly air-freshener designs; either the Starfleet delta, or the Vulcan hand sign. Both come in packs of two.

The Next Generation coins
The Perth Mint in Australia has revealed their second set of Star Trek coins, a TNG pair, featuring Captain Picard and the USS Enterprise-D. These follow the previous TOS coins, and are part of a series of five releases, which will presumably encompass all five of the prime captains and ships.
Like the previous release, these coins have a face value of one dollar, but you'd be unwise to pop along to the shops in Tuvalu, where they are legal tender, as they've been struck in silver, so are somewhat more valuable!
Each coin is available separately in an an illuminated display case, or together in a novelty transporter room inspired case. Continue below for more images.

Star Trek coin series
The Perth Mint in Australia has announced they will be producing a new series of Star Trek coins. Five pairs of coins will be released, each featuring a captain and ship, starting with Captain Kirk and USS Enterprise coins this month. Each coin is legal tender, valued at one dollar in the island nation of Tuvalu - You would be a little crazy to use it as such though, as they are being struck in silver, so their actual value is somewhat higher!
Each coin will be available either individual, there will be five thousand in this format. Or you can get them as a pair, in a rather elaborate transporter chamber inspired display, and there will be just one-thousand-five-hundred of these. Continue after the jump to check out all the packaging:

Star Trek stuff for guitarists, drinkers, and golfers
Here's a round-up of some of the latest miscellaneous Star Trek stuff appearing in the world. Starting with ThinkGeek's latest stroke of genius, the Starfleet delta guitar pick. Available now is a pack of twelve picks, which comes with four picks for each department:
If being a trekkie guitarist isn't already cool enough for you, you'll be pleased to know you can get an extra chill from the latest Star Trek ice-cube tray. This TOS themed one comes with molds to make a Starfleet delta, live-long-and-posper hands, and the USS Enterprise.I'm not sure who's making this, but I came across them for sale on My Party Shirt.
If ice isn't your thing, but you still want a cold drink, then perhaps Icup's new Spock can hugger (with poking out ears) is for you? Entertainment Earth are expecting this version of Spock to be available from June.
Finally, Entertainment Earth also recently added listings for the previously announced Star Trek golf head covers from Creative Covers For Golf, they expect these to be available in June too. Here are some better images of those (via Creative Covers), starting with my favourite, the tribble (you can see the other designs after the jump):

Tribbles eat money now
A couple of months ago Crowded Coop announced a new range of Star Trek bags, purses, and other accessories on the way. Now Entertainment Earth have listings up for a few of these, including the first look at mock-ups for a couple of particularly creative items; my favourite of which is the coin eating tribble purse!
Another prop-come-practical item they have on the way is a TOS tricorder messenger bag:
Then getting a bit less novel there's a Starfleet inspired dopp bag, and Uhura's make-up bag:
And luggage tags in all the TOS uniform colours:
Entertainment Earth expect all these to be available from June. Crowded Coop also announced various bags, backpacks, wallets, and more purses and luggage tags, but Entertainment Earth aren't giving us a closer look at those yet. Check out my previous report for more details on the ranges.

Frisbee USS Enterprise should be real!
As if ThinkGeek aren't already creative enough with their weird and wonderful products, on April Fools' Day (yesterday) they like to go a little further, and come up with some extra implausible goodies to tempt us with. This year they had two Star Trek creations!
My favourite, and one I hope ThinkGeek can bend the laws of physics to make a reality, is the incredible USS Enterprise frisbee! Here's how ThinkGeek imagine it might work:
There is of course a video of it in action too:
The second Trek product is a Rosetta Stone language course to Learn to Speak Klingon. They promise the package will include:
The potentially exciting thing about ThinkGeek April Fool's products is that they don't always remain jokes. As well as being a bit of fun, ThinkGeek carefully monitor the interest in the ideas, and sometimes bring the more plausible ones to life. You can even vote for the ones you like most (there are seven other besides these Star Trek ones this year).
These two are so plausible there are indeed already similar products out there. There have of course been numerous Klingon language books and learning guides over the years, including a CD-ROM language course from EuroTalk.
There's been nothing quite as elegant as the idea of turning a frisbee into the Enteprise, but flying models aren't unheard of. A few years ago Mattel released a propeller driven remote control model, and perhaps even more out there than what ThinkGeek propose, many years ago Estes released a model you could build around a rocket! I think the ultimate flying Enterprise would be a frisbee one though, so lets hope ThinkGeek can make it real!
My favourite, and one I hope ThinkGeek can bend the laws of physics to make a reality, is the incredible USS Enterprise frisbee! Here's how ThinkGeek imagine it might work:
Each Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc is pretty much just what it looks like. There's the saucer section (made of space-age plastic) which is the part you throw (just like a regular flying disc). But the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc also has the rest of the ship attached (made of foam). The saucer section spins freely, and the secondary hull actually stabilizes and flies behind it. The result? A U.S.S. Enterprise you can easily throw and catch. The Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc - it's the most fun you can have without anti-gravity, a bottle of Saurian brandy, and four Tribbles!
There is of course a video of it in action too:
The second Trek product is a Rosetta Stone language course to Learn to Speak Klingon. They promise the package will include:
• Language software that will take you from simple greeting to arguing about sports over a bottle of BloodwineThey got Michael Dorn (Mr Worf himself) to present the video explaining this one:
• Live conversation sessions with native speakers (guaranteed to be from Beta Quadrant)
• Language-enhancing games
• Free, downloadable mobile companion app

A better look at the new Star Trek dog accessories
ThinkGeek have added several of Crowded Coops' new Star Trek dog toys and accessories to their offering, which means they've also done some typically good photography to show off their wares; giving us a much better look at them than the mock-up images that have been circulated until now.
Top prize for ingenuity goes to the communicator bag dispenser, and ingenious if rather peculiar reinterpretation of the design:
There are also plush dog toys, with the option to set your hound on either a red shirt or a Klingon. It would seem dog owners prefer dealing out death duty to Starfleet security (or are worried about provoking the Klingons), as ThinkGeek have temporarily sold out of the red shirt one already:
ThinkGeek have also made a video showing these guys in action:

Latest Star Trek novelty items
A few bits and bobs for you to ponder, starting with the latest additions to the Star Trek golf range: Now available from the StarTrek.com store are golf club covers, and golf balls, both (as ever everything is) styled after the TOS uniforms:
The TOS uniform has also recently found itself prepared for the youngest recruits in Starfleet, with We Love Fine's new baby onesies:
Also taking a TOS influence is the latest version of Spock socks, these ones come from Threadless:
TOS doesn't get all the fun though, earlier this year an Enterprise-D bottle opener was released. The stardrive section is magnetised, as a dock for the saucer, which containers the actual bottle opener. Mock-up images of it have been around for a while, but now Busted Tees have posted a nice set of images showing the real thing, which looks pretty neat:
And there's more still, continue after the jump for Rubik's cubes, keyrings, and credit cards!

Review: Pon Farr perfume
The nice people at Palm Beach Beaute asked me if I'd like to review one of their new Star Trek fragrances (which I posted the details of previously). Alas I'm not much of a fragrance wearer myself, so I didn't feel in a position to give an informed review on the subject. Fortunately my very good friend, and fellow blogger, Natasja, is much more familiar with smelling of loveliness, so I asked her to do the honours. And so, here is the first ever guest writer on The Trek Collective:
Pon Farr Parfum for women is a fragrance that will drive any male Vulcan wild. Every seven years a woman must have her way with a man so she can live long and prosper; this is where Pon Farr Parfum comes in. At first glance, it gives off a soft and subtle yet significant scent. It pulls you in for more.
When applied to your skin the delicate flowery fragrant becomes more powerful as the vanilla musk and sandalwood take over. It has a very pleasant and alluring smell that even I cannot stop smelling. After having done so for a while, the muskiness tones down a bit and the flowery scent returns.
Even the bottle plays with your mind; it looks simple and see-through but becomes a rich shade of purple depending on the angle. Pon Farr Parfum is easy to wear, seductive but not overwhelming, this makes it accessible to any event of your liking; bahan, fasan, taman and especially for those personal experiences. So, be ready to leave logic behind!
Pon Farr, and the other fragrances in Palm Bench Beaute's Star Trek range, are available now from Entertainment Earth and Amazon.
If you're wondering, Natasja tells me bahan, fasan, and taman, are Vulcan words for various activities. If you'd like to read more of Natasja's musings on beauty, baking, and the trials of being a young woman, check out her blog, Eyes Painted Black. Her latest post is on a bit of a spacey theme too, featuring starscape nail art.

Last month I had a look at new Star Trek design checks, and now Card.com have brought Trek-themed transactions a bit more up to date with their new series of Star Trek design pre-paid debit cards. They have designs from Enterprise, TOS, DS9, and Voyager, but no TNG for some reason. Here are some of my favourites, check out the Card.com Star Trek site to see the full range:

Into Darkness promos and adverts
With the release of Into Darkness marching round the globe there are lots of promotional tie-ins, such as the Esurance USS not-the-Enterprise and Acer space-laptops advert series. But that's just scratching the surface, there are lots more adverts, strange promo products, and features on Into Darkness. I've even leant my hand to the efforts with a few Star Trek factoids as part of Vue Cinema's Star Trek trivia feature - I managed to sneak a Trek-lit reference in there!
Several other cinemas are offering these neat Star Trek Into Darkness realD 3D glasses, with Starfleet deltas cut out fo the arms. They come in three different "collectable" packets:
They are being offered for sale Megaplex Theatres, Gold Valley City Square and Pica Rivera are giving them away at screenings, Cinemit has a competition to win them, and MovieStop is offering them with pre-orders of the DVD and bluray!
At the rather more elaborate end of the Star Trekified stuff scale, Huffington Post has a competition where you can win a Star Trek Into Darkness LED pool table! (As well as copies of Star Trek: The Video Game)
It doesn't stop at pool tables though, various companies around the world, including SFX, Forbidden Planet, View, and Cairns, are offering combinations of Star Trek bits and pieces in competitions. There's a cool Starfleet delta icecube tray, Star Trek branding foldable and gaming chairs, bluetooth speakers and keyboards, or a tiny joystick:
If you live in Mexico, then KFC has a treat for you, as their "Chicky Pack" meals come with some Star Trek toys: Either little projectors, which make light shapes of the Enterprise or a Starfleet delta, or neat 3D puzzle versions of the Enterprise or a shuttlecraft:
