The Star Trek: Shipyards(ad) series builds upon content from the various versions of The Official Starships Collection, along with new pages, to catalogue the starships of the Star Trek universe, and this new updated volume lets Eaglemoss add in content for new ships from Discovery, Picard, and Lower Decks. A new batch of covers and preview pages has been released for forthcoming Star Trek non-fiction books, spanning cat-based whimsy and a game book to starship catalogues and behind the scenes design. Continue below to check out all the latest.

First a newly announced book from Eaglemoss: Hero Collector and Penguin Random House is the latest in the Star Trek: Shipyards(ad) series, which aims to catalogue all the starships of the Star Trek universe. Star Trek: Shipyards - Alpha Quadrant and Major Races: Lysian to Zibalian(ad) will be the second of two books dedicated to the various aliens of the Alpha Quadran, following Acamarian to Ktarian(ad), and is set for release in April next year.

First up, Eaglemoss: Hero Collector and Penguin Random House have revealed a new cover and updated title for the first of Alpha Quadrant alien ship books in the Star Trek Shipyards(ad) series, which is now known as Alpha Quadrant and Major Races: Acamarian to Ktarian(ad). Ben Robinson is listed as editor.

Eaglemoss' publishers Penguin Random House have released another set of previews for forthcoming Star Trek reference books, including the latest from the Designing Starships and Celebration series. An update to this book has been prompted thanks to the numerous new ships introduced in Discovery, Picard, and Lower Decks, almost all of which are now included here. The new preview pages give us some of the first really good looks at these new designs, including the 32nd century Constitution class USS Armstrong, and the Wallenberg class below:

Non-Fiction previews: TOS: A Celebration, latest Designing Starships and Shipyards book, and The Star Trek Book

A gaggle of new preview for forthcoming Star Trek non-fiction books have recently been released, including pages from Eaglemoss' latest volumes in the A Celebration, Designing Starships, and Shipyards series, a DK's revised edition of The Star Trek Book. Continue below to check them all out.

First up from Eaglemoss: Hero Collector and their published Penguin Random House, we have Star Trek: A Celebration(ad), a retrospective look behind the scenes on The Original Series in the same format as last year's Voyager: A Celebration(ad). Gene Roddenberry’s “Wagon Train to the Stars” continues to live long and prosper, with Discovery, Lower Decks, and Picard currently on the air, and Strange New Worlds on the way. But it all began 55 years ago with Star Trek: The Original Series. The second installment in Hero Collector’s Celebration line (following Star Trek: Voyager – A Celebration), Star Trek: The Original Series – A Celebration includes more than a dozen new interviews with cast and creatives, scores of never-before-seen photographs and sketches, as well as chapters taking fresh looks at the show’s creation, directing, visual effects, props, and most-pivotal episodes.

Four more Eaglemoss books expand the Shipyards, Designing Starships, Celebration, and Nerd Search series

The Star Trek publishers are a busy bunch lately, as here are yet more new Star Trek books to look forward to this year! This latest selection of four newly announced books all come form Eaglemoss and Penguin Random House, but each offer a very different sort of book. Continue below to see what's coming.

First up, an interesting development in the increasingly vast "encyclopedia of starships" Star Trek Shipyards(ad) series: Eaglemoss will be creating a second edition of the Starfleet Ships 2294 - The Future volume(ad) in this series, to add in the new ships from Picard and Discovery season three. 

Book bits: New TOS and TNG novel covers, new children's book, and another starships book!

Lots of new Star Trek books and new book covers to look at today! Including a brand new children's book, another volume in the Star Trek Shipyards series, and new novel covers.

Star Trek Shipyards: Delta Quadrant books previews

Eaglemoss and Penguin Random House have released a large selection of preview pages for two of their forthcoming books, the latest entries in the Star Trek Shipyards(ad) series, The Borg and the Delta Quadrant: Akritirian to Krenim(ad), and Delta Quadrant: Ledosian to Zahl(ad). The Shipyard series typically collects the in-universe sections of the magazine from Eaglemoss' starship model collections, with previous books charting Starfleet Starships(ad) (over two volumes(ad)), other Federation ships(ad), and Klingon ships(ad). Each of those books has had some brand new content due to handful of ships not being made as models by Eaglemoss yet. In the case of these books, which effectively present a log of all the ships encounter in Star Trek: Voyager, there is much more new content, as there are an awful lot of Voyager ships that haven't been made as models yet. As a result I think these are two of the most exciting volumes in the series so far!

The first book, The Borg and the Delta Quadrant: Akritirian to Krenim(ad), is due out in April. Here's a reminder of the blurb:

Non-Fiction previews: The Motion Picture, Dan Curry, and Voyager books

Lots of new previews for forthcoming Star Trek non-fiction books have been released, giving us a peak inside the new books dedicated to The Motion Picture, Voyager, and the wide ranging work of visual effects master Dan Curry. Continue below to check out preview pages from them all!

First up, the film that redefined the look of Trek in a way that echoes until this day, and brought Star Trek to the big screen. Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Inside the Art and Visual Effects is set to give us a look at how that film was created, and is packed full of beautiful imagery.

First up, some fiction news: We finally have a cover for the long awaited tenth book in Kirsten Beyer's Voyager relaunch series, To Lose the Earth:

TNG tech from the cancelled Build the Enterprise-D partwork

Do you like starship tech? Well here's a treat for you, pages of awesome techy goodness from the cancelled Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D partwork. Including stunning new artwork not previously seen.

First, a refresh on the history: About a decade ago DeAgostini in Japan hatched an ambitious plan to release a 100-part model kit and magazine partwork, to Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The large model, with lighting, would have included the ability to pull away part of the hull to reveal deck-plates, detailing every room inside the ship. The series would also have come with a comprehensive new set of blueprints for the ship on loose sheets, and a magazine covering technical details, mission log styled episode summaries, and new interviews with the cast and crew. Alas the first test run of the series coincided with the Japanese tsunami in 2011, and market wasn't receptive to such an ambitious project at that moment. So it was lost to time.

I've reported on this lost gem a few times before, and thanks to editor Tim Leng have been able to share several pages from the publication before as well. Now Tim has shared a bunch more of the techy pages from the series, on the Star Trek Prop Enthusiasts Facebook group, giving us another look at what could have been.

These pages are all from either the Apparatus or Critical Systems sections of the magazine. Each features brand new CGI artwork, detailing the subject matter, and in several cases revealing parts of the ship that never made it to screen. These sections, along with the blueprints and detailing of the model, were created in coordination with Enterprise-D designer Rick Sternbach.

Like the old Star Trek Fact Files, these pages were gum-bound, so could be pulled out and filed away in a sensible order, building up the reference work as the series continued.

Eaglemoss Starship book previews: Voyager book coming, Disco cutaway and concept art, and more!

Lots of previews of forthcoming Eaglemoss starships books today. Continue below for the latest Designing Starships and Shipyards books. But first, let's get up to date on the Illustrated Handbook series.

The series began recently with a book focusing on the Enterprise-D, with content mostly previously published in the long out of print Star Trek Fact Files, including numerous gorgeous cutaway diagrams and other illustrations covering every aspect of the ship, equipment, and uniforms.

The second book discussed below is on the way soon, and now Eaglemoss have announced a third. Due out in April is the USS Voyager NCC-74656 Illustrated Handbook. Like other Eaglemoss releases, this will be offered on it's own, or packed with an Eaglemoss starship model, Voyager of course. There's no cover art yet, but here's the blurb:

Covering every prime timeline iteration of the original Enterprise, this book has some very exciting brand new content too, with coverage of the Discovery version of the Enterprise, nestled between the classic Pike era design, and the Kirk era version. Book bits: Next Discovery novel details, Too Many Tribbles preview, and more

Got a few book updates today, including a look at the new Tribbles book! But first, new book news!

There have been a handful of mystery new books with "Untitled" listings floating about for a few months now, and the first of those just got a title! Due out in December is Dead Endless, the next Discovery novel, which will be written by Dave Galanter. This book will focus on Paul Stamets and the spore drive, and according to Enterprising Individuals, who had a chat with Galanter at the recent Shore Leave convention, Airiam will also get some attention. TrekToday have released the following blurb, via a press release they were sent:

The U.S.S. Discovery’s specialty is using its spore-based hub drive to jump great distances faster than any warp-faring vessel in Starfleet. To do this, Lieutenant Paul Stamets navigates the ship through the recently revealed mycelial network, a subspace domain Discovery can briefly transit but in which it cannot remain. After responding to a startling distress call originating from within the network, the Discovery crew find themselves trapped in an inescapable realm where they will surely perish unless their missing mycelial fuel is found or restored. Eaglemoss starship book updates

Eaglemoss' range of starship-related reference books has just had it's latest release, and I've got previews of several other recent and forthcoming releases. Continue below to check the latest from the Illustrated Handbooks, Shipyards, and Designing Starships series.

First up, the latest series from Eaglemoss is the Illustrated Handbooks, which pull together material previously published in the Star Trek Fact Files, a part work magazine long out of print, to give us a detailed and lavishly illustrated guide to all the systems. The second book in that series, due in October, will focus on the original 1701 and the 1701-A, and interestingly that includes brand new content that integrates the Discovery version of the Enterprise into the overall history of the ship

Like previous Eaglemoss releases, the book is also being offered paired with a model ship, and images of that version of the book have now been released, giving us a look at the packaging, as well as a peek inside the book:

A few bookish updates today, including new covers and preview pages of a couple of forthcoming releases. But first, new book news:

Original 1979 edition cover

New listings have confirmed two new books on the way, and for the first time in a while we know the title of one of them! Due out in October is an unusual release, a reprint of Gene Roddenberry's novelisation of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The rationale is for the film's 40th anniversary; there's no mention of whether there's any new content, such as an introduction, to mark that occasion. Like all the current novels, this will be a trade paperback release, and will also have an audio edition. There's no cover yet (but surely the iconic movie poster will be used), but there is a blurb:

Another book matches the cryptic naming of the other recent new listings, known currently as Untitled LBH; you can only tell it's a Star Trek book as it's listed under Pocket Star Trek. Whatever it is, we can expect it in February 2020.

Coming this September is the new Official Guide to The Animated Series, from Aaron Harvey and Rich Schepis. Amazon listings for this now give us a brand new set of preview pages to enjoy, which give a wider idea of the book's contents (literally, the contents page is among them) then the previous preview. It includes one spread from the preview preview with a new image selection, so some updates must have been happening as the book approaches publication:

Listings for a new TAS reference book have just started cropping up, revealing a rare treat for TAS fans coming this September. Written by Aaron Harvey and Rich Schepis, The Official Guide to the Animated Series, from publisher Weldon Owen, promises an in depth look into the making of the series, including production artwork and new interviews. Eaglemoss starships updates: New ships announced, new book, and lots of new previews

Got a load of Eaglemoss Starships Collection updates today; Eaglemoss have been very busy updating their listing lately, meaning lots and lots of new images and videos of new and forthcoming ships. Continue below to check out those, and news of another new book on the way, but first, let's look at the latest ships to join the line-up:

The latest round of solicitors from Eaglemoss have revealed issue 151 in the main Starships Collection to be a Bomar patrol ship, which should arrive first in the UK (with other markets to follow) in May.

First up we have the fourth in the Designing Starships series of books, which this time is focused entirely on Discovery, promising to detail the design of every ship from season one. These books are normally mostly content from the Official Starships Collection magazines, with a few extra pages added in, but in this case, with the Discovery Collection still some way off releases of many of the season one ships, this should bring us a lot of new content finding it's first release in the book. This Discovery Designing Starships book is due out in October.
