Trek Toys updates: Mega Construx, Titans, DST, McFarlane, Mego, and more!

Got lots of Star Trek toys updates today, mostly action figures of one sort or another from a very diverse mix of companies, styles, and series!

First up Mega Construx have added an extra Star Trek item to their slowly growing collection of construction toy compatible mini action figures. Available now as part of series three of their Heroes range is TNG's Data, who comes equipped with a phaser and tricorder.

The Heroes range brings together an assortment of Mega Construx's licenses in each wave, so this third series sees Data released alongside characters from Terminator, Aliens, Masters of the Universe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

New TOS action figures from NJ Croce and Mega Construx

Lots of unconventional new TOS action figures to look at today. Starting with the new bendable figure range from NJ Croce. Coming soon will be several six-inch TOS characters in this bendy rubbery format. Initial releases planned include a transporter room four pack, containing Captain Kirk, Spock, Doctor McCoy and Scotty.

Latest Star Trek Mega Construx figures

Mattel obtained the Star Trek construction toys license in 2016, launching an impressive range of TOS Mega Bloks sets ready for the 50th anniversary. Since then Mega Bloks has become Mega Construx (with Mega Bloks now the name of the bigger bricks for younger builders), and Star Trek releases have been popping up now and then.

The latest of those brings us new Star Trek micro action figures in the new Mega Construx Heroes line. Like the previous Kubros range, this series brings together various characters from different licenses. Mattel recently previewed series two, revealing it will include Amok Time versions of Kirk and Spock.

Already out (since August), is series one, which includes Picard and a Borg drone. Continue below for lots of images of those:

Kubros Captain Picard out now

Mega Construx, the new name for the range of construction toys previously know as Mega Bloks, have released their third series of Kubros figures, and within their third Star Trek Kubros figure, Captain Picard. Continue below to check him out:

Mega Bloks Kubros Worf figure

Mega Bloks have released their second wave of Kubros brick build figurines, and among the diverse range of characters is their second Star Trek Kubros figure, and first TNG building set, Worf.

Worf is built using 157 pieces, which is enough to arm him with a bat'leth. I think they've done a rather impressive job for the scale! Continue below to have a closer look:

Mega Bloks Star Trek displays and sets at Comic Con

Mattel's Mega Bloks put on a show at the San Diego Comic Con over the weekend, and while they don't appear to have displayed any of their excellent TOS ships and playsets, they did have a bit of Trek going on in their booth, which focused entirely on their Kubros range of stylised figures. Indeed a giant version of the Kubros Spock was one of their centrepieces:

Behold the huge Mega Bloks USS Enterprise

This year Mega Bloks have returned to the world of Star Trek with a range of TOS construction sets, which include playsets of key locations, and models of ships. All but one of the sets in the first wave have already made their way into the world, and now that final set, the largest in the range, has joined them on Amazon, where it can be pre-ordered ahead of an expected July release.

The huge USS Enterprise set is made from 3,098 pieces, which build a model that is 85cm long. It also features light-up nacelle caps with built in LEDs, and two figurines, Kirk and Spock in dress uniform variants. To top it off, the display base features a miniature recreation of the ship's dedication plaque. Continue below to have a look at the many new images that show off the impressive model:

Mega Bloks Guardian of Forever and Klingon sets revealed

This year Mega Bloks have a new range of Star Trek construction sets coming out, and while not officially expected until later in the year, they have been sneaking out early. Two more sets have now joined those that are already in the wild, and once again that means lots of pictures have been released. Continue below to have a look.

The latest two sets are the smallest in the range, both essentially figure packs, ideal for building up armies of (in this case) red shirts and Klingons. The red shirt set is based on The City on the Edge of Forever, and includes Kirk and McCoy as well as two generic red shirts, and a brick built Guardian of Forever:

Mega Bloks bridge set out now

This year Mega Bloks are returning to the world of Star Trek with a range of construction toys including TOS ships and playsets, and figurines in their Kubros range based on TOS and TNG characters. While these weren't expected to arrive until late in the year, several sets have already found their ways to retailers.

The latest of those, now available on Amazon, is the largest playset in the initial wave of releases, the very impressive USS Enterprise bridge set. This set comes with figurines of Captain Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and Sulu, plus, a surprise revealed in the new images below, also included is Nomad, making this set specific to the episode The Changeling (watch out Uhura!). Mega Bloks Klingon D7 and transporter room in the wild

This year Mega Bloks is returning to Star Trek, with a large range of construction toys, including model ships and playsets based on TOS, and figurines in their Kubros range featuring characters from TOS and TNG. The first of the Kubros figures, Spock, appeared last month, but we we're expecting to see the rest of the collection until later in year...

Well, thanks to Amazon, two of the other sets have snuck out super early. So available now is the Klingon D7 class, and transporter room playset. As ever, going with those Amazon listings are lots of new images of both sets. So continue below to give them a good look.

The Klingon D7 is one of two model ships so far announced, the other is a much larger rendition of the USS Enterprise. The quite modestly scaled D7 captures the shape of the ship impressively well, and comes with a display stand, including a spot for the included figure of Kor to stand on, beneath a Klingon banner!

Kubros Spock figurine and other Mega Bloks updates

As you may know, this year Mega Bloks will be returning to the world of Star Trek (more than a decade after their previous single release, a model of the USS Enterprise-D). They have already announced a range of TOS construction sets, including models of ships, and playsets of key locations.

In addition to those, Mega Bloks are also launching a new range of brick built figurines, called Kubros. This series will pull from many of Mega Bloks' licensed brands, including Halo, Terminator, Masters of the Universe, Assassins Creed, Aliens, Power Ranges, Minions, and of course Star Trek,

At the recent New York Toy Fair they revealed Star Trek characters in this series will include TNG's Worf and Captain Picard. But before them, the first series of Kubros features a TOS character, Spock, who along with the other first series characters from other franchises is now available to order directly from Mega Bloks' online shop, making him the first release of the new Star Trek assortments. Of course that means Mega Bloks have also released lots of images to show off this blocky Mr Spock.

Mega Bloks reveal more Star Trek playsets, and Kubrons figures

Coinciding with the recent New York Toy Fair, Mega Bloks have revealed several more sets in their forthcoming Star Trek construction toy range. There are several sets based on specific episodes, as well as key locations, plus a newly revealed range of brick-build figurines. First Mega Bloks Star Trek construction sets revealed

Earlier this year it was announced Mega Bloks had secured the license to produce Star Trek construction toys, and a few months later we got the first look at their incredibly impressive USS Enterprise model. Well now at the New York Comic Con they are showing off the Enterprise again, as well as two other sets that will be released along side it when the line launches in the autumn of 2016. The biggest set by far is that incredible USS Enterprise, which Gizmodo's Toyland report will be made from over three thousand pieces, and also have light up nacelles! It will also come with two figurines (not to scale), Kirk and Spock, in dress uniforms. This 1/350 scale masterpiece will set you back $250.

First look at new Star Trek Mega Bloks

At the recent Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, CBS put together a very impressive display showcasing half a century of Star Trek merchandising, ready to gather interest in the franchise ready for next year's fiftieth anniversary.

Among the historical overview, the leading edge including something we've not seen before, the first look at the new Mega Bloks Star Trek construction toys, as seen in the form of a particularly impressive (if you can see past the misaligned nacelle struts) model of the original USS Enterprise (image via Collider):

There's not yet been any information on what the Mega Bloks range will include, so this could just be a display piece (although it would be out of context with the rest of the exhibit, which is all real products). If it is the first look at an actual set, I would suspect it will be one of the higher end sets, as this is pretty big as construction toys go.

If you look towards the front of the display you can also see some of the Mega Bloks figurines. On display are all the main TOS crew, plus two versions of a TOS Klingon (one look to be transporter-style transparent), and two mirror universe characters.

Star Trek construction toys on the way from Mega Bloks

Mega Bloks, Mattel's Lego-compatable construction toy range, is to launch a new range of Star Trek toys next year. That will mark a return of Star Trek to Mega Bloks, more than a decade since they last produced a single set, the USS Enterprise-D (pictured). There's no news yet about what subject will be featured in the new sets, but they were specified, in the press release, as a limited edition release, and will form part of Mega Bloks Collectors range, for more mature builders, which currently includes sets based on Halo, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft.

The news came with the announcement of several new lines from Mega Bloks, curiously mostly featuring brands that have until recently been held by other construction toy companies. As well as expanding their existing Power Rangers license, next year will also see the launch of  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (previously held by Lego), and sets based on the new Terminator film, Genisys (Best Lock have previously produced sets based on that franchise).

Star Trek's own brick-built history indeed began with that single Mega Bloks set, but more recently had a much larger range from Hasbro's Kreo-O. Those sets were mostly based on Into Darkness, although there were a handful of releases inspired by the wider Star Trek universe. It has not been specified whether the new range will focus on the new movie due out next year, or also incorporate other parts of the franchise - One would certainly imagine anyone with a Star Trek license will be seeking to capitalise on the fiftieth anniversary next year!

I believe Hasbro has dropped Star Trek on the whole, so I would also anticipate news of other toy licenses to come some time this year, ready to produce action figures, props, and model ships based on the new movie.
