Eaglemoss starships: Discovery's 32nd century ships arrive, plus lots of other Lower Decks, TNG, DS9, and TOS ship previews, and a new Starfleet reissue series

The Eaglemoss Hero Collector shipyards are busy as every with new ships and stations on the way from almost every corner of the Trekverse. The latest previews include the first look at the first few ships from Discovery's 32nd century era, more previews of the first Lower Decks release, Eaglemoss' first Klingon starbase model, more classic TOS and TNG bonus issues, new bigger TNG shuttle models, and a Starfleet focused relaunch of the original Starships Collection! So first, something Discovery fans have been waiting for, the first of the 32nd century ships from season three are finally joining the running order in the Star Trek Universe: The Official Starships Collection(ad). After mostly Picard ships in that series so far, with issue eleven we get the USS Discovery-A, complete with floating nacelles held away from the ship with little clips:

Star Trek Explorer fiction authors, story details, and features revealed, plus extra cover variant

The new Star Trek Explorer magazine is just a month away from launch, and Titan Publishing and the magazine's creators have revealed some new details of what to expect, including most tantalisingly some details of the four new short stories that the first issue will offer. Continue below for information on those and other features in the magazine, plus a new cover variant.

While the Star Trek Magazine of old has previously offered some Star Trek Online based fiction (an omnibus of which(ad) is coming soon), this will be the first time a broader fiction offering will be coming to the official Star Trek magazine. The new quarterly Star Trek Explorer will feature two new short stories each issue, alongside two more delivered as a digital supplement to subscribers.

Titan Publishing have announced the four writers for the first issue, and three of them appeared in a virtual panel at the New York Comic Con this past weekend, and gave a few more details. Notably this first batch of stories are all based around Q, but maybe not in the most expected settings. It's not clear which of these four are in the print magazine, and which are digital, but they are:

Eaglemoss: Hero Collector's shipyards are evidently got a new delivery of Synth workers recently, as they are really pumping out new model ships at the moment! The latest announcements include the first Lower Decks ship from Eaglemoss, several Voyager releases in their special and bonus lines, the latest issue of the Universe collection, and a new alien-themed shuttlecraft set! So first up announced today on StarTrek.com we have our first look at the forthcoming XL edition of the USS Cerritos. What a handsome lady!

Star Trek Magazine is reborn, as Star Trek Explorer

Titan Magazine's long-running Star Trek Magazine is getting a relaunch, with this October bringing us issue #1 of the new Star Trek Explorer. Check out the details of that first issue, and other Titan Publishing Star Trek releases, below:

Star Trek Explorer: The Official Magazine(ad)  is set to feature interviews, behind the scenes coverage, and new fiction content. Here's the blurb for the first issue:

STAR TREK EXPLORER THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE LAUNCHES A NEW ERA OF BELOVED SHOW! Featuring exclusive interviews with the cast and crew of Star Trek series as well as behind-the-scenes content you won't find anywhere else! This new magazine will also feature Star Trek exclusive fiction! Plus much more!

The covers for the first issue suggest an emphasis on interviews with the Discovery cast and crew for this issue, alongside a Kirk-focused "mini-magazine", a "Star Trek 101" explainer feature, and the promised "exclusive fiction". The previous Star Trek Magazine has before featured Star Trek Online based short stories, and excerpts form Star Trek novels; will this new format continue those sort of things, or maybe offer so some completely new short stories from different corners of the Trekverse? The only clue is that Disco-era Captain Pike is used to illustrate the new fiction tag on the cover (alongside "all-new magazine" and "new features" mind you).

The book will be offered in two covers, either the regular edition(ad) featuring Burnham in an EV suit, of the Previews exclusive edition(ad) using Tim Anderson's TOS art from the 50 Artists 50 Years collection(ad).

Eaglemoss reveal more Kelvin timeline ships, and the Son'a battleship

Following the recent reveal that the USS Armstrong(ad), from the Kelvin timeline background Starfleet fleet, will finally be joining Eaglemoss' Starships Collection, it has now been confirmed more minor Kelvin ships are on the way. Eaglemoss have also released new images of their latest Son'a ship. Continue below to check them all out.

TrekCore have released the first images and details of the further Kelvin releases. For now at least the collection will comprise the three most prominent ships from the Vulcan rescue fleet in The Future Begins (see my previous report for a look at the other Kelvin ships still in waiting). 

My favourite of the bunch is the very uniquely shaped USS Newton, with a half saucer and two engineering sections. This will be the 28th bonus issue in the collection, coming in August: 

Eaglemoss previews latest Picard and STO ship models, plus a look ahead at Build the USS Enterprise-D

Eaglemoss have previewed several forthcoming ships in their various starship model collections, including the latest from Picard, Star Trek Online, and the huge Build the Enterprise project. Continue below to check out the latest ships:

The newest announced issue in the Star Trek Universe starships collection(ad) confirms the "Romulan Vessel"(ad) (previously referred to with the pithier name Romulan Bomber Warbird) as issue five in the so far Picard dominated series, which will eventually include ships from all the currently in production live action series. Eaglemoss have released several new images of this neat W-shaped Romulan ship, the first of the Romulan fleet seen in Picard. We can expected to arrive in July.

Eaglemoss' Star Trek Universe starships series opens for subscriptions and teases future ships

Eaglemoss' new Star Trek Universe: The Official Starships Collection(ad) is now open for subscriptions in the US - UDPDATE: And now in the UK(ad), Germany(ad), and other parts of Europe(ad) too - and the revamped website is teasing several forthcoming ships in the series, which will be a mixture of ships from all the currently in-production live action Star Trek series; Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds. First look at Eaglemoss' La Sirena and USS Zheng He

The new series-spanning Star Trek Universe: The Official Starships Collection(ad) is set to launch this April, and Eaglemoss have now revealed the first two models in that collection: Both from Picard, La Sirena, and the USS Zheng He. 

The new collection will eventually encompass all the current live action TV series, including Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds (and presumably the Section 31 show eventually too), and takes the place of the previous Discovery only series(ad) (but continues with that series' bigger than Eaglemoss-classic scale), enabling Eaglemoss to mix and match the most wanted ships from all the current series without having to run separate series for each - Although the series is specifically covering the live action shows, so now indication yet on what becomes of the also-awesome-ships of Lower Decks (and Prodigy when that arrives too).

It all kicks off with lots of Picard ships though, with Disco season three ships due later. The first two are now ready for previews, so continue below to check out some pretty neat looking models.

As the first issue in the series, and the hero ship from Picard, there's a particular abundance of previews for the La Sirena; via Eaglemoss' web-shop(ad) as well as the series subscription site(ad). Looks like a great model, and of course with that glorious red paint job is going to be a particularly distinctive addition to the model ship fleet.

Eaglemoss' Build the Enterprise-D series launches in 2021

Eaglemoss Hero Collector are launching their Star Trek: The Next Generation - Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D part-work collection(ad). Following a trial run of the first few issues last year, the series is due for its proper start in February, with sign-ups starting now.

Over 120 issues (!), the collection will build a 70cm long model of the Enterprise-D, with die cast metal parts, and lighting throughout (including nacelles, impulse engines, deflector, windows, and navigation lights). The model can also saucer separate, with independent power supplies in each part so the lights will still function while separated. Everything comes pre-painted, and either clicks or screws into place. Each issue also comes with a magazine (see below for details of that).

TNG tech from the cancelled Build the Enterprise-D partwork

Do you like starship tech? Well here's a treat for you, pages of awesome techy goodness from the cancelled Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D partwork. Including stunning new artwork not previously seen.

First, a refresh on the history: About a decade ago DeAgostini in Japan hatched an ambitious plan to release a 100-part model kit and magazine partwork, to Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The large model, with lighting, would have included the ability to pull away part of the hull to reveal deck-plates, detailing every room inside the ship. The series would also have come with a comprehensive new set of blueprints for the ship on loose sheets, and a magazine covering technical details, mission log styled episode summaries, and new interviews with the cast and crew. Alas the first test run of the series coincided with the Japanese tsunami in 2011, and market wasn't receptive to such an ambitious project at that moment. So it was lost to time.

I've reported on this lost gem a few times before, and thanks to editor Tim Leng have been able to share several pages from the publication before as well. Now Tim has shared a bunch more of the techy pages from the series, on the Star Trek Prop Enthusiasts Facebook group, giving us another look at what could have been.

These pages are all from either the Apparatus or Critical Systems sections of the magazine. Each features brand new CGI artwork, detailing the subject matter, and in several cases revealing parts of the ship that never made it to screen. These sections, along with the blueprints and detailing of the model, were created in coordination with Enterprise-D designer Rick Sternbach.

Like the old Star Trek Fact Files, these pages were gum-bound, so could be pulled out and filed away in a sensible order, building up the reference work as the series continued.

Eaglemoss Starships updates: New mirror universe Enterprise-D, plus latest previews of regular, special, and Discovery issues

Huge Eaglemoss Starships Collection update today, with lots of new images of forthcoming ships, in both the main and Discovery series.

First up, we have a new ship! Joining the mini-series of mirror universe bonus issues, we have the ISS Enterprise-D, based on it's appearance in the mirror universe TNG comic Mirror Broken - That makes it a variant of the All Good Things... tri-nacelle Enterprise, with the yellow markings of the Terran Empire. The accompanying magazine is a bit different too, exploring the non-canon mirror universe adventures in an article by Dayton Ward.

Eaglemoss starships updates: First look at Planet Killer, new regular and Disco ships, and more!

Loads of Eaglemoss Starships Collection updates today, including news of new issues in both the regular and Discovery series, and new images of new and forthcoming ships in both. But first, our first look at the next special issue in the regular series, the Planet Killer!

Newly revealed in solicitations, the Planet Killer marks a notable new feature for Eaglemoss models: Light! Yup, what you see in the picture below (posted by 3000Toys) is not a trick of photography, but an internal light source in the model.

Eaglemoss Build the USS Enterprise-D part work launches

Eaglemoss have launched a new Star Trek magazine a model partwork series, Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, which does exactly what the title says! Each issue includes parts to build a large (70+ cm long) model of the Enterprise-D, with built in lighting features, and of course comes with a magazine, in this case split between building instructions and behind the scenes articles.

The model is meant to be a hybrid of details from the various studio models used in the series to try and best represent the ship, while also converting it into a model kit issued in many pieces. The kit is either assembled by clicking it together or screwing in certain parts. It does still manage to have a working saucer separation feature. Eaglemoss starships updates: First look at XL Enterprise-C, new previews, and new ships confirmed

Lots of updates from Eaglemoss' starships collections today, including news of new ships confirmed for the series. But first, let's check out some new previews:

First up we have our first look at the tenth XL ship, the USS Enterprise-C, which has just recently appeared on the UK Eaglemoss webshop, with the promise of an October release.

Titan Magazines Discovery companion, and Star Trek Magazine updates

Just starting to turn up on bookshelves now is one of the latest Star Trek releases from Titan, the Star Trek Discovery Special Edition: The Making of Season 1, a companion to the first series including an episode guide, behind the scenes coverage, interviews, and more. Continue below to check out lots of preview pages and covers for that releases, plus other updates from the Star Trek Magazine.

Like last year's Discovery "Collector's Edition" from Titan, this special edition is being released in both magazine and book formats; in fact it's got no less than four different releases! There's the hardcover format release using one of Paul Shippers Discovery illustrations for the cover. The regular magazine format release is an assemblage of promo photos and typically magazine-ish text shouting about the contents. And then more obscurely there's a Previews exclusive tri-coloured Vulcan/Starfleet/Klingon cover, and already available for a month, the Star Trak Las Vegas exclusive cover.

Eaglemoss announce a load of new ships for the Starships Collection

Eaglemoss have had a busy weekend at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention, announcing a lot of new ships in both the The Official Starships Collection and the Discovery spinoff. Continue below for a look at all the new ships to come:

First up we have two more ships confirmed for the Discovery collection, images of which were also posted on the Hero Collector blog. Issue seven will be the Cardenas class, and in a change to the initially announced ship for this class we are going to be getting the USS Buran - This is a particularly interesting choice as while that ship was frequently mentioned in Discovery, it was never seen on screen. The ISS Buran was featured briefly but prominently, and the USS Yeager which was the ship originally planned to be released appeared in the battle at the start of the series.

First looks at Eaglemoss' Vulcan and racing ships, plus new previews of XL and bonus issues

Eaglemoss have released their latest round of solicitations for The Official Starships Collection, including the first looks at the models and covers for issues 133 and 134. The latter of those is the Vulcan survey ship, one of two 20th century Vulcan ships seen in Enterprise's Carbon Creek (the other has yet to find its place in the collection). This one should arrive in September in the UK, and other markets later.

First up, via the Hero Collector blog, we have our first look at the eighth release in the XL series of extra big models, the USS Enterprise-B. The Excelsior class is one of my very favourite Star Trek designs, so I'm delighted to be able to get a bigger version of this beauty, especially as being a narrow design it was a little on the small side as a regular issue; the new XL version is apparently 28cm long!

Eaglemoss reveal several new Official Starships Collection issues, and other updates

Lots of Eaglemoss Starships Collection news, previews, and updates today. Starting with the announcement of four new regular issues in the main series.

Eaglemoss' Hero Collector blog has previewed issues 131 to 134, with some surprising and welcome ships on the way. First in that run is Arctic One, a 22nd century Earth ship seen in Enterprise's Resistance, which of course we've already had one model of, issue 99's assimilated version.
