The Wand Company's Bluetooth communicator is back, and tricorder on the way

The Wand Company, makers of high end Star Trek prop replicas with practical functions, are back in action, with both the return of a classic product, and a new working tricorder on the way. Continue below to check them out.

So far The Wand Company have produced a TOS phaser remote control(ad), a TOS communicator Bluetooth handset, and a type-1 phaser remote controlled mood light rock(ad). The phaser and communicator have been out of production for some time, and as a result are typically garnering very inflated prices on the secondary market. Well that price bubble just burst, as communicator is going back into production for a 55th anniversary release, and is available to order now on the Star Trek Shop (due to ship just next month).

Two distinctive new Spock action figures/figurines are on the way from Super7's ReAction Figures range, and and Funko's Pop! vinyl line. Continue below to check them out.

First up from the ReAction Figures (which are retro styled-action figures at 3¾ inch scale) we have a Target exclusive Spock(ad), with one hand posed in the Live Long and Prosper salute. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this figure is the very distinctive packaging, which is itself a die cut Live Long and Proper hand!

One-week Mego Star Trek action figure exclusives from Topps. plus the latest Mego TOS, TNG, and 14 inch releases

Retro action figure makers Mego recently announced a new partnership with Topps to release exclusive action figures on a weekly basis, and on just the second week of this initiative, there are two new Mego Star Trek figures on offer, for one week only. Continue below to check them out, plus their latest TOS and TNG character regular releases, and their new larger sized 14 inch figures.

The Topps arrangement is in effect a crowdfunding pre-order offer, where new characters are offered for a one-week pre-order period, and so long as a minimum order threshold is met, they go into production, and arrive about 90-100 business days later - So these first two characters should turn up in January.

On offer now we have a The Motion Picture version of Spock:

This is the first Motion Picture release in the new era of Mego (which relaunched a couple of years ago), but of course Mego has done a lot of TMP toys(ad) in the past, being the main toy company for the film at release. That included Spock in a twelve inch action figure assortment(ad), and curiously this new figure appears to be modelled after that figure as much as the film, with the prominent grey V neck shared between the two toys, but I don't think Spock on-screen!

More images of the huge Playmobil USS Enterprise playset

A couple of weeks ago we got our first look at the huge Playmobil USS Enterprise playset(ad) coming later this year. Now a few more images have been released, along with higher quality versions of the first batch of images, so continue below for a closer look.

The meter-long model of the ship includes built in bridge and engineering playsets ready to house the Playmobil figures of all the main TOS characters included, plus app-controlled light and sound features. It also comes with a display stand, or alternatively a hanging kit to allow it to be suspended. One of the new images gives us a much clearer look at this feature, which given the size of model, looks impressively minimalistic!

Where's Captain Kirk? Why he's on the bridge of the Playmobil 70548 Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Playset! Quite possibly the biggest and most deluxe Playmobil playset created up to this point, this 42-inch long, 18-inch wide starship includes electronic lights and sounds that can be controlled by your smart device! It includes a display cradle, plus wire for ceiling suspension if that's your preferred means of display. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Lt. Sulu, and of course Chief Engineer Montgomery "Scott" Scotty. That's a lot of fun in one big box!

The saucer section of the Enterprise opens up to show a full 1966-style bridge play environment. What's more, the body of the ship opens up on the side to show you an engineering room. Other accessories and electronic surprises are coming as well, so don't miss the iconic ship!

Details are limited at the moment, but the initial report on the product by Toy News states it will be filled with a "host of merchandise and collectables", and that "each calendar can also be used as a storage and display unit with the idea of keeping single-use packaging to a minimum." - Said packaging certainly looks cool:

First look at Eaglemoss' La Sirena and USS Zheng He

The new series-spanning Star Trek Universe: The Official Starships Collection(ad) is set to launch this April, and Eaglemoss have now revealed the first two models in that collection: Both from Picard, La Sirena, and the USS Zheng He.

The new collection will eventually encompass all the current live action TV series, including Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds (and presumably the Section 31 show eventually too), and takes the place of the previous Discovery only series(ad) (but continues with that series' bigger than Eaglemoss-classic scale), enabling Eaglemoss to mix and match the most wanted ships from all the current series without having to run separate series for each - Although the series is specifically covering the live action shows, so now indication yet on what becomes of the also-awesome-ships of Lower Decks (and Prodigy when that arrives too).

It all kicks off with lots of Picard ships though, with Disco season three ships due later. The first two are now ready for previews, so continue below to check out some pretty neat looking models.

As the first issue in the series, and the hero ship from Picard, there's a particular abundance of previews for the La Sirena; via Eaglemoss' web-shop(ad) as well as the series subscription site(ad). Looks like a great model, and of course with that glorious red paint job is going to be a particularly distinctive addition to the model ship fleet.

All of the new figures are quite ambitious designs for Mego figures, but I think Q's(ad) striking red and black judge's robes are definitely the most eye catching:

Check out the new Star Trek train sets from Lionel

Lionel's new Star Trek O gauge train sets have arrived, and to mark their release Lionel have released loads of new images, and even a video of the main set in action.

The centrepiece of their range is the Star Trek: The Next Generation Lionchief Set(ad), which included an Enterprise-D themed locomotive with three carriages, each representing a different room on the ship (sickbay, a holodeck, and Ten Forward). The holodeck carriage includes a simulation feature which animates the image of the interior, in a rather meta fashion showing a train running inside the holodeck!

All this comes with Star Trek and train sound effects, lighting, and a set of tracks to run it around. Plus a remote, although you can also control it via a bluetooth app. You can see it in action in this video they've released:
