Discovery #6: Lethe previews, and news round-up

Episode six of Discovery, Lethe, will be with us soon, and as usual CBS have released an assortment of images and video to tease what's to come. Continue below to check out that, plus a look further ahead in the series, and some bits from the previous episode too.

Here are some key screencaps. Most curiously Sarek seems to be injecting himself with something, which makes him glow!

The Vulcan fight scene we've seen in previous trailers shows up here:

And interestingly this punch appears to transition directly into Burnham on the shuttle. Is that device she is wearing a flashback machine? Or something to enhance her mental connection to Sarek?

The Klingons appear again:

A new Vulcan ship design! Complete with ring drive. Sweet.

This nebula is almost nauseating colourful!

Giving the Discovery some disco lighting!

So maybe that's why the crew have their disco outfits on...

CBS have also released a collection of official photos from the episode, mostly focused on Lorca and Tyler on both the shuttle and Klingon ship:

Looking further ahead, CBS recently announced the titled of the remaining episodes in the first block of the season, including last week's Choose Your Pain, and this week's Lethe. These will be followed by Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go MadSi Vis Pacem, Para Gellum, and Into the Forest I Go.

TrekMovie posted an interview with executive producer Akiva Goldsman, who noted the reason the season split was recently tweaked was to work it around two arcs within the season:
It is actually just a function of how the storytelling laid out. CBS started calling them two “sweeps”…There is this sort of meta-arc, which is the war with the Klingons, but within that meta-arc there are two mini meta-arcs, or micro-arcs. So the first sweep of those just naturally fell out in [episode] 9, so we moved it. No more or less mysterious, sadly.
And with such mini-arc's in mind, it's interesting that in an interview with ComicBook.com, executive producer Alex Kurtzman mentioned several mirror universe episodes on the way:
Well, it sort of leaked that we are going to be doing some episodes about the mirror universe. And yes, we’re going to be paying homage to the original.
The question was apparently specifically asked in relation to the spore drive allowing exploration of time travel and parallel universes; make of that what you will.

Speaking of time travel. Here's a gaggle of stills and clip's from the last episode, Choose Your Pain:

Star Trek: Discovery will continue weekly, and it will be distributed almost everywhere in the world on Netflix, except for the US where is will be available on CBS All Access, and Canada where it will be on Bell Media channels and services.
