This (last) month: April 2015's Star Trek releases

I've cut this so fine this month that imagine most of you will in fact be reading in May! But none the less, continue below for a round-up of all the Star Trek stuff that made its way into the world in April 2015.

Books

It's a busy month for comic books, plus the latest novel, and an issue of the Star Trek Magazine. This month's prose adventure was Uncertain Logic, the third in Christopher L. Bennett's Rise of the Federation series.

Years ago, Jonathan Archer and T’Pol helped unearth the true writings of Vulcan’s great philosopher Surak, bringing forth a new era of peaceful reform on Vulcan. But when their discovery is seemingly proven to be a fraud, the scandal threatens to undo a decade of progress and return power to the old, warlike regime. Admiral Archer, Captain T’Pol, and the crew of the U.S.S. But they discover that other civilizations are eager to exploit this dangerous power for their own benefit, even if the Federation must pay the price!

Beam into your shower, TNG style

Following on from their previous TOS shower curtain set, ThinkGeek have moved onto the 24th century with their new TNG transporter room shower curtain. Which looks like this:

Leggings, Hawaiian shirts, and more creative Trekwear from Mighty Fine

Mighty Fine have recently released several new creative forms of Star Trek clothing, including this glorious TOS Hawaiian shirt!

Romulan Bird of Prey, Worf bust bank, and other DST updates

At the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Diamond Select Toys have revealed their next all new electronic starship toy, the Romulan Bird of Prey - This was first displayed at the Toy Fair earlier in the year, but photography wasn't allowed, so now the rest of the world can see it in all its glory. Starships Collections' USS Enterprise, Hirogen, D'kyr, and more!

The next two issues of Eaglemoss' Official Starships Collection have now been solicited, and come July, when the series gets to issue fifty, we have a ship I'm sure will get more adoration than most, the one that started this whole Star Trek thing going, the original USS Enterprise. This is followed by the Hirogen Hunter from Voyager, which looks like it's going to be one of the more impressive models in the series to me!

Preliminary covers have also been released. Both of these issues will be arriving in July in the UK, and will arrive in the US come August/September, with the rest of the world to follow as the series progresses in other markets.

IDW's July Star Trek comics, with loads of covers!

July is a big month for Star Trek comics, with the new Green Lantern crossover series headlining IDW's solicitations for the month, plus new issues of the nuTrek ongoing and New Visions series. Continue below for details of them all, and a lot of covers!

Eurydice, Part 2 preview

Out this week was issue forty-four of the nuTrek ongoing comic series, the middle section of the three-part Eurydice story. Continuing from the previous issue, the Enterprise and crew are stranded far from home (thanks to a continuity glitch that might be either the Delta Quadrant, or the Andromeda galaxy!). Sacraments of Fire cover

Simon and Schuster have released the cover for David R. George III's next DS9 novel, Sacraments of Fire. The story is set to pick up some of the dangling threads from The Fall, and along with the follow-up, Ascendance, it appears will also be filling in some of the missing period  from the DS9 relaunch when the series jumped forward to align with the post-Destiny timeframe - While the blurbs don't hint at filling in that missing time in this first book, the cover certainly does, with Iliana Ghemor (last seen at the end of The Soul Key when she became the Ascendants' messiah) looming over the new Deep Space 9:

Ships of the Line and other 2016 calendar updates

Universe Publishing have released updated covered and new preview images for some of their 2016 Star Trek calendars. The biggest reveals come from Ships of the Line, with new front and back covers revealing some (but not all) of the competition winning designs that will feature in next year's calendar:

If you can't quite make out what you're seeing on the back there, I believe we have:

• The Insignia class, one of my favourite fan designs (inspired, I believe, by one of the proposals for a next generation starship in the TNG Technical Manual), which I'm delighted to see in an official publication.
• What appears to be a meeting of the TV era TOS Enterprise and the Enterprise-C.
• An Argo-type shuttle on the way to the Enterprise-E.
• The Enterprise-D, with the big shuttlebay open (same image as the cover).
• A refit Constitution class ship next to a spacedock, possibly with a pre-refit inside said dock (I can't quite make it out).
• Another pre-refit Enterprise in spacedock, this time seen from within the dock, and with a classic shuttle flying by.
• A new TOS-era ship, with a similar configuration to the USS Kelvin.

Primate Directive final chapter prevew
