Star Trek/Green Lantern crossover comic

IDW have announced their latest Star Trek crossover comic series, The Spectrum War, a six-part Green Lantern crossover, which for the first time ever will see the nuTrek crew encountering beings from another universe. Starting in July, the series will be written by Mike Johnson, who has penned all IDW's nuTrek comics to date, and will feature art from Angel Hernández, who recently illustrated several issues of DC Comics' Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse. Here's the blurb for the series:
Now all Star Trek fans can watch their favorite U.S.S. Enterprise crew members meet Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps in an adventure that spans space, time and all the colors of the spectrum. Set in Star Trek’s 23rd Century, the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lantern Corps’ Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner. Only the combined power of the Green Lantern Corp and the Federation stand any chance of stopping those who worship evil’s might.

I'm sure we can expect lots of different covers in this series, and the first issue is already down for at least four, from Gabriel Rodriguez (above), Francesco Francavilla (below, after the jump), Garry Brown. and Elsa Charretier. Other issues in the series will see cover art by  Declan Shalvey and Marc Laming.

This will be the second time Star Trek has run into characters from DC Comics, following IDW's 2011 TOS/Legion of Super-Heroes crossover series. And of course Star Trek crossovers are becoming a bit of a regular feature in IDW's offering, who have also delivered the multi-franchise Infestation zombie crossover event, Doctor Who, and most recently, Planet of the Apes crossover series. All of those bar Doctor Who were TOS stories; Kirk and co only made a small cameo in an otherwise TNG Doctor Who encounter. This Green Lantern series will be the first time the nuTrek crew have featured in a crossover story.

Sounds and looks pretty interesting. Not sure I'll get the individual issues, but it's definitely a story I plan on reading.

I wonder what they have planned for Chang.
