IDW September titles, and other Star Trek comics news

IDW have released their solicitations for September, and it's a bumper month of Star Trek comics, with three new stories, plus a new omnibus on the way. Continue below to check them all out:

New Visions #8: The Survival Equation
Written and photo-manipulated by John Byrne.
Andrea, Ruk, Exo III — names that conjure grim memories for James Kirk. What, then, happens when the killer androids start showing up by the dozen? Plus, a special guest star who’s bound to surprise!

As if that cover isn't sufficiently eye-catching, John Byrne also posted a preview page from this issue on his forums:

Star Trek (nuTrek ongoing) #49: 5 Year Mission - Deity, Part 2
Written by Mike Johnson, with art by Tony Shasteen.
The FIVE YEAR MISSION of the Starship Enterprise continues here in the epic conclusion to "Deity"! Up against a fierce new enemy, Captain Kirk must choose between sacrificing his ship and crew or allowing an innocent species to perish!
This issue has two covers, the regular by Tony Shasteen, and a subscription variant photo-cover.

Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War #3
Written by Mike Johnson, wiht art by Angel Hernandez.
The blockbuster crossover event of 2015 continues here, as the galaxy explodes in a Lantern-fueled war between the Federation and its enemies! Captain Kirk and the ring-bearing crew of the Enterprise must join forces with Hal Jordan to prevent the loss of entire civilizations... as the identity of the villain behind it all is revealed!
There are three covers for this one, the regular by Tony Shasteen, a variant by Rachael Stott, plus the subscription variant by Garry Brown (the latter has yet to be revealed)

Star Trek, Volume 10
Written by Mike Johnson, with art by Cat Staggs and Tony Shasteen.
The lead up to the next movie begins here! Following their encounter with the extradimensional entity known as “Q”, Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise continue their five-year mission into unexplored space. Contains the stories "Behemoth," "Eurydice," and "The Tholian Webs” from issues #41–46.

In other comics news, the fourth book in IDW's Gold Key Archives is due out in October, and Amazon have revealed the cover art for that already (albeit not at greatly impressive resolution). This volume collects remastered versions of issues nineteen to twenty-four, of the first ever Star Trek comics series.

And finally, speaking of early adventures of the Enterprise, in another forum posting by John Byrne, he revealed he has been working on a straight photo-comic adaptation of The Cage. It started as a bit of fun, as likeness approvals would be problematic, but he's sent the now complete thing to IDW just in case, as he explained:
Too many actors from those shows did not sign off on the use of their likenesses, and now they are dead! Peter Duryea and John Hoyt, for instance. Still, didn't stop me dummying up a splash page for an adaptation of THE CAGE. Showing it here doesn't break any rules.
Because I am, you know, ME, I went ahead and did the full adaptation of "The Cage." Runs to fifty pages! Now in Chris Ryall's hands, as he sets about determining whether there is a way around the issue of likenesses, and this could actually be published as a "special" for the 50th next year.

If that doesn't happen, I'll serialize it here in the Forum, but, well, I'd like to see a for real version out there!

Here's a sample page to show how I am stitching the images together, as well as some of the editing made necessary by the comicbook format.
