First look at Ships of the Line 2014, and other calendar updates

Amazon has updated its listing for several of the 2014 Star Trek calendars, with new back cover images. Those include next year's Ships of the Line, giving us a first look at the images within:

Got to love the fantastical madness of D.M. Phoenix's space squid attack on a starship! Pretty nice to see a Romulan War image in there too, and the return of the Enterprise-J, both by the mastermind of the whole thing, Doug Drexler! Tobias Richter's DS9 image looks spectacular too. I'm also pretty curious what's going on in Alan Rivard's fleet museum image; I'm guessing the shuttle it being towed into the Enterprise collection, but at this resolution it almost looks like it's attacking! Mark Rademaker's proto-warp-ringship appears to have a block of text with it, which I guess will be giving some context to this quasi-real-world concept design. All the artists contributing have done a great job, thank the prophets it wasn't cancelled! No new front cover yet, but the back here tells us the title and artist: Nothing But Trouble, by Douglas E Graves.

Amazon have also posted a new version of the Star Trek Into Darkness calendar backcover (the third iteration to date), it still doesn't look finished to me, so I guess it will change again:

DST's First Contact edition Enterprise-E

The Diamond Select Toys Facebook page has posted some new images of their forthcoming First Contact edition USS Enterprise-E. As you can see in this comparison with the existing Nemesis version, she's a lot paler!

Disappointingly in a comment on the gallery DST mentioned this version will have the same sounds as the previous releases. So no push of a button tinny version of Picad's "They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here!" Look what you can make with the Star Trek Craft Book

Having recently skipped up the schedule a couple of months, the new Star Trek Craft Book, by Angie Perdersen, is now due out at the end of this month! StarTrek.com have posted some images of the things you'll be able to make with the book's instruction. Here is, naturally, Spock the monkey!:

Meet the USS Vengeance

TrekMovie have released an image of the Evilprise from Star Trek Into Darkness, or as it it apparently actually called, the dreadnought USS Vengeance:

A couple of interesting details I see. The big sphere things either side of the deflector: Could those be huge weapons? We've seen a big sphere apparently fired from the Vengeance at the Enterprise (and doing massive damage) in the domestic trailer, could that be one of these things?

Also, look closely at the section of the saucer beneath where the bridge doom should be, the light patterns there are rather similar to those we've seen inside the bridge. I wonder if that glossy black floor is in fact transparent? There's certainly something unusual going on with that particular part of the ship, not least because of the hollowed out saucer.

New Starfleet issue pajamas

StarTrek.com have announced the latest TOS uniform themed garment, this time The Robe Factory are bringing us two-piece pajamas in each of the uniform colours:

A step up from the slightly odd looking Jumpin Jammerz' onsie pajamas, I suppose, but I think alien uniforms would be more fun: Imagine going to bed in a full body printed Klingon armour or Borg exoskeleton!

Another clip and more posters for Into Darkness

AOL has released a second clip from Star Trek Into Darkness, this time we get to see the Klingon chase sequence. The new Klingon Bird of Prey sounds a bit like a Tie Fighter!



Meanwhile Digital Spy has released more of the international character posters. Joining Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and Harrison, who we've previously seen in a banner version of these posters, we now have Carol Marcus, McCoy, and Sulu too:

New Star Trek: The Video Game trailer and concept art

Star Trek: The Video Game is out today in North America (and coming in the following days elsewhere), to celebrate Namco Bandai have released a new, action-packed, trailer. Looks like the Enterprise is doing her best to up her pain freehold for Into Darkness with all the damage she's taking here!



io9 have also run an interview with Paramount's Brian Miller, who produced the game. The interview covers much of what we've heard in the promotion leading up to the release of the game, but the article is peppered with concept art, including lots of new pieces. Into Darkness round-up

So much Into Darkness stuff popping up all over the place at the moment! Here's a round-up of the latest, starting with a a clip from the film released by AOL:

Here's what that Mr Harrison had to say:

Another bit of narration we shall soon be hearing is Alice Eve, reading Alan Dean Foster's novelization of the film. Amazon has now updated its listing for the audiobook version, with a cover. Not so surprisingly it it is a squareish version of the book cover, which uses the first poster image. I wonder if this is actually the final version, it doesn't seem quite squat enough for a CD case, and there's a black bar down one side:

Some other promotional things are starting to appear now: Acer has launched a website, which is cross promoting its Iconia tablets (with a gateway ap??) and Aspire laptops. The site includes wallpapers using promo photos, such as these:

Mazda has also released an advert, which starts with a cool animation of the Enterprise forming out of lines, and then is all about a car... See that after the jump, along with more stills, behind the scenes images, uniforms and more!

Latest Star Trek comic covers

IDW's Chris Ryall has posted the following art on his Tumblr, for the forthcoming re-print of the first ever TNG comics in Beginnings, the latest omnibus in IDW's Classics series. The snazzy new cover is by the Sharp Brothers, with colours from Kristy Miller:

Amazon have also updated their listing for the The John Byrne Collection, which will collect together all of his Star Trek comics. It appears the book has been delayed a month, now due out at the end of May. They show a slightly different version of the cover than the previous two we've seen, now with the delta element slightly smaller, and a hand-written style text for part of the title:

What I really want to know IDW, is when are we going to get more Byrne Star Trek comics? The stories in this collection are among the best Star Trek comics there have ever been. Bring back Byrne!
