IDW's October comics

IDW have announced their October solicitations, which include two new Star Trek comics, the latest issue of the ongoing series, and the start of the recently announced Khan series, plus two omnibus books:

Khan #1
Written by Mike Johnson. Art by Claudia Balboni. Covers by Paul Shipper, Andrew Currie, and a photo-cover.
"Shall we begin?" Don't miss this all-new mini-series event overseen by Star Trek Into Darkness writer/producer Roberto Orci! Witness the shocking origin of Khan Noonien Singh from his earliest years through his rise to power during the epic Eugenics Wars! Behold the events that led to his escape from Earth aboard the Botany Bay! Learn the truth behind his re-awakening by Admiral Marcus and Section 31! It's the origin of Star Trek's greatest villain, only from IDW!
Curiously the solicitation information states this is issue one of five, while the press release annoucing the series just a few days ago stated it is a six-issue series.

Star Trek (ongoing) #26
Written by Mike Johnson. Art by Erfan Fajar. Cover by Erfan Fajar, plus sketch and photo covers.
The conflict between the Klingon and Romulan Empires erupts, with Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise trapped in the middle! Don't miss the newest chapter of the ongoing series overseen by Star Trek Into Darkness writer/producer Roberto Orci!

Continue after the jump for October's omnibuses:

The Star Date Collection, Volume 1: The Early Voyages
Written by John Byrne, Ian Edginton, Dan Abnett, James Patrick, Scott and David Tipton. Art by John Byrne, Patrick Zircher, Greg Adams, and Josep Maria Beroy.
The comic book tales of Star Trek have roamed the universe and spanned publishers, but now Star Trek: The Stardate Collection collects the many iterations of Trek in order… by stardate! Helmed by Trek experts Scott and David Tipton, and featuring special commentary and creator interviews, volume 1 starts at the beginning to reveal the motives, machinations and decisions that shaped the intrepid crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. For new and old fans alike, there's never been a Star Trek collection like this!

According to IDW this will contain Crew issues 1-5 and Early Voyages issues 1-7. The writer and artist credits would seem to indicate is also contains Alien Spotlight: Vulcans, which would fit the Pike-era theme of the collection. However IDW also states it will be a 288 page (hardcover) collection, which if it did contain 13 instead of 12 issues would leave no room for the promised commentary.

TNG/Doctor Who: Assimilation²: The Complete Series
Written by Scott Tipton, David Tipton, and Tony Lee. Art by J.K. Woodward, The Sharp Brothers, and Gordon Purcell. Cover by The Sharp Brothers.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise have joined forces with the Doctor and his companions to combat an unholy alliance between the Federation's most terrifying enemy and one of the Doctor's greatest antagonists. But once the Cybermen turn on their Borg allies, the Doctor and Picard find themselves at odds over how to proceed against the threat, with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance!

This is a hardcover collection of the complete series.
